UPDATE 4/25/2023 4 yrs after installation of a system that Bell Brothers designed and installed, my energy bills are higher than they were with the 20 yr old system it replaced. We have fewer people in the home, and it is supposed to be a high efficiency system. After numerous complaints, inspections, and supposed repairs to solve the problem, Bell Brothers told me that I need to turn off my high-tech, automatic thermostats and operate them manually as needed. Oh, and NEVER turn on more than 2 of my 3 zones at any one time. So much for the NO SURPRISE GUYS. UPDATE 3/18/23 AFTER CONTACT WITH BELL BROS We have been contacted by Bell Bros since this review with an offer to replace the plenum and reprogram the zone board. We requested a written explanation of those repairs, and how they would solve the problem. We have not received that information. UPDATE 9/19/22 - AFTER TRUE-UP My energy usage (and annual bill) is higher after replacing a 20+ year-old system with one that is supposed to be more efficient. That makes no sense. We have fewer people in the house, and have had more than our share of power outages and flex alerts. This is definitely a very expensive purchase that we thoroughly regret. UPDATE 9/8/21 - AFTER 3 DAYS OF HEAT WAVE We typically open doors and windows or run the whole house fan to take advantage of the cooler morning temperatures. Since the insulation was upgraded, the temperature inside the house seems to be holding between 10-15 degrees cooler than outside. At this point, we are comfortable and looking forward to see if our heating/cooling bills are lower at true-up. UPDATE TO ADD ACTIONS TAKEN BY BELL BROS SINCE MY REVIEW Approximately 1 week after this review was posted, I received a message from Bell Bros Sales Manager wanting to discuss my insulation options. When I returned his call and gave him the details of my experience with his company, he apologized and offered to insulate my home at no cost. Needless to say, that was a more than fair offer and I accepted. In spite of some unprofessional communication issues, the work was performed yesterday and we are waiting to see whether it makes a difference in our comfort and/or our hvac bills. I am raising the rating to 2 stars now, and will be updating the rating further if we see some positive changes in how our system works. ORIGINAL REVIEW Installed complete HVAC system to replace 20 year old system in 4000 sq ft house. Represented that new system would operate more efficiently and should decrease my heating/cooling costs significantly. Prior to installation, they inspected my entire system, including insulation and ductwork and made recommendations for the best system for my needs. I asked about insulation at the time of the install and was told it didn't need to be installed. Two years later, my bills are HIGHER, and now they tell me I only have 6" of insulation when I should have 16". Temperatures in my house are consistently higher than the selected temperature. I have one room which takes more than an hour before the air begins to blow. They tell me it is because this room is so far from the unit. They are the ones who decided where to place the unit. Very unhappy with the difference between what they told me I needed, and what I actually got. He came out to diagnose our issue, and made a second appointment to bring out specialized equipment to find a coolant leak. Never showed up for the second appointment, never called, and we tried for several weeks to reach through calls, texts and emails to no avail before the insurance reassigned to another company. The lack of communication and responsibility to their commitments is no way to do business

We needed to replace our old 20+ year HVAC system before it quit working which probably would have been in the summer when HVAC companies are the busiest. so I decided to do it winter 2021. Did my due diligence and had three companies come out, present their bids and recommended equipment. Most of the companies were in line with their bids and no one underbid their competitors. All were less than $300 apart. I have 18+ years real estate and property management experience so I have dealt with lots of trades over the years. I chose CenCal because I liked their presentation, the length of time they had been in business and although I didn't know it at the time I chose them, I did know the owner through shared past acquaintances. Knowing our shared acquaintances and their background helped firm up my decision to go with CenCal. From the time CenCal techs started the job until the time they finished the installation, our experience was superior to any other firm I have ever dealt with in the past. They were always on time and thorough with the information they provided. Found we had a leak in our ducts under the house so also had those replaced so all equipment was new out the gate. In addition to the professionalism of the installers, sales rep and quality follow up after the job was completed, CenCal's office staff is some of the best I have ever dealt with in my career. These ladies should give classes to other company's staff people.... they are that good

If I could give Cencal 10 stars - or 20 - I would! This is an ethical, compassionate, caring company owned and staffed by people who act out the company's ethos. Five years ago, when we needed a new dualpac in the middle of a cold winter, we shopped, and then chose Cencal for its responsiveness, clear information, and very competitive pricing. The installation went like a dream, and the service techs spent an entire morning at our home ensuring everything was working better than perfectly. The unit was under contract for a couple of years, and we decided to continue the contract when the "free" servicing expired. So worth the money for the peace of mind knowing our investment is being cared for by responsible reliable folks. I don't have a favorite tech: I appreciate all of them! They show up on time for appointments, and are universally businesslike and friendly. Thank you, Cencal, for making me comfortable in my home. "It went superb. This was a "fix-someone-elses-mistake" job and he did a really good job cleaning up another contractor's mess. He also only charged $20/lbs. of freon compared with the last guy who charged $40/lbs - for the same stuff - Puron. He opened up the unit (something the other guy didn't even think to do) and soldered the leak no problem. He was professional, on time, ready to work and charged truly fair prices. And he did all that in less than 2 hours.
