"Friday, Keith Johnson came to my house, the same day I called.  He gave me the worst case scenario on removing the knob and tube from the attic.  Worst case would have cost me $1100.  A friend of mine referred someone who quoted me $2800 for the job. Thank goodness he didn't show up and I got a second opinion.
His guys were great.  The came on time on Monday and got the job done in a few hours.  Cleaned up after themselves.  Fortunately my situation was not worst case scenario and they charged me $435.  Very happy with them.  I have referred them to several people already.  Thanks Keith!

"This is the second time we had services performed by Garafano Electric. They were prompt when coming for an estimate and when installing the outlets. They vacuumed the areas they worked on and billed us for the amount quoted. Would hire them again."

"Mr. Chan came out to my home and inspected the entire house. He sent me a proposal with pictures he had taken during the walk thru showing the areas that needed attention and what he proposed to correct the issues. We had an e-mail exchange to set up a start date and spoke on the phone so I could ask questions regarding how the job would proceed. Gabriel was professional and very helpful. He answered all my questions and concerns before the job began. The day of the job start Gabriel arrived with his crew and walked thru the house with me showing me where he would have to drill holes to access the wiring. As he had quoted in his estimate he told me it would take a week to week and a half to complete the work. He introduced his crew leader Frank, who would be there each day working with the crew and answering my questions or concerns as they came up during the duration of the work.

They got to work right away and stared by removing the existing wiring thru-out the house. Frank discussed it with me beforehand if he had to make acesss holes bigger than what was on the propsal. the old cloth wrapped wires were bundled up and disposed of. They put down cloths to protect my wood floors and cleaned up all debris at the end of each day. The job went very quickly. They removed and replaced all exsiting two prong outlets and non-grounded switches with tamper proof grounded receptacles, and grounded switches. They installed additional circuits where NEC requied them in the kitchen, Bathrooms and Laundry room. They also installed a new sub-panel to accommodate new circuits as wel as updating the old Zinsco Panel. Things went so well we added some things to the job. 3 cable jacks, replaced the exhaust fan in our guest bathroom and had smoke detectors installed in the master and and guest bedroom. The only things we had to provide were Wall sconces for the living room and fluorescent lighting rods for the kitchen.

They finished ahead of the proposed time allotted and gave me their assurances that should anything go wrong I could call and they would be out to make it right. NOTE: I had to call about a month or so later re: a false triggering on one of the smoke detectors and they came out the next day and fixed it.

We were very pleased with the work and the polite, friendly assistance of Frank and Mr. Chan. They made suggestions that helped us decide on upgrades and they were not pushy or hard selling their suggestions, they gave us their opinion and let us decide what we wanted to do. I would definitely, use Power-UP again and have recommended them to my friends and faimily

"Tony and crew were great. The appropriate door was installed beautifully and the fence was fixed better than new. They were prompt, work was done quickly and thoroughly. We are also having him quote on doing our bathrooms and floors. In the quote process he gave recommendations to improve what we want done. This is intended to be a great recommendation."

"I thought Paul and his installer were rock stars. I bought a new fan and the ceiling fan company where I bought it couldn't do a quick installation so I looked in here at Angies list and found that Paul at Fairway Electric was highly recommended. And the review was more than accurate. Paul responded immediately and had someone out the next day and installed my ceiling fan (something i did NOT want to do myself). And he even charged me a bit less than Paul quoted. Later---there was a frequency problem with the ceiling an light that made it dim occasionally---(caused by a neighbor who had a remote control with a similar frequency). Paul sent his repairman out (no additional charge) and changed the frequency. I'd call Paul back in a millisec if I had another ceiling fan installation or for electrical work based on my excellent experience dealing with him."

FAQs for doorbell installation projects in Pasadena, CA

The average cost to hire a handyman ranges from about $40 to $140 per hour. Average project cost ranges between $180 and $700, but the cost per hour and per project depends heavily on the type, size, and complexity of the project. The pro’s experience level and your location also factor into how much a handyman charges per hour or per project. You can also expect to pay higher rates or additional fees for emergency services, or around periods of high customer demand, like holidays.

It’s important to ask an electrician a few questions before you commit to hiring them so you can make an informed decision as a consumer. If you’re getting estimates or considering hiring an electrician, ask them these questions:

  • Are you a full-time electrician?

  • Are you bonded, licensed, and insured?

  • What level of experience do you have as an electrician?

  • Can you please share three references?

  • Do you do residential or commercial electrical work?

  • What kinds of electrical work are you most familiar with?

  • Will any subcontractors be performing the work?

  • Are permits and inspections required?

  • Who is responsible for obtaining permits and inspections?

  • What is your schedule?

  • Do you offer a guarantee or warranty on your work?

  • Will you sign a do-not-exceed clause to keep the job within the budget?

Yes, you should get a quote or an estimate from an electrician. Most electricians offer free estimates or quotes. When getting quotes, do your research and verify each electrician’s license. Get quotes from three different electricians to compare. If the prices or items listed appear different on the quotes, ask the electrician to clarify. Learning as much as you can about the electrical work you want done will help you get the most accurate estimate.

Qualified, licensed electricians will charge from $50 to $100 per hour. The cost to hire an electrician for emergency visits may range from $100 to $200 per hour because this urgent service usually takes place during off hours and may require an electrician to leave or reschedule jobs they’re currently working on. Scheduling work on holidays or during periods of high customer demand, like after a major storm, will also lead to higher rates or extra fees.

Yes, you should hire a handyman who’s licensed, certified, and insured, if possible. States have different requirements for handyman licensing, registration, and certifications. If licensing is required in your area, you may pay more for a licensed handyman with experience than one who is not licensed or certified, but you’re likely to get a better end result for your project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local handymen guidelines.
