"Julie provided OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE which means.. responsiveness, reliability, and timeliness. I contacted at least 6 companies to help me install a safety railing in a condo building with a unique 1929 design. She worked swiftly with me to confirm the materials and design and set up a date/time for the work. She showed up on time and completed the job when she said she would. And she was a pleasure to work with throughout the process. Thank you Julie for an exceptional customer experience."

"Mello Welding is terrific. I received a call back and a quick estimate. The work to cut out a rusty section of railing and weld a new section in place was professionally completed on time. I really appreciated how quickly they responded. Very satisfied."

"As soon as the contract was signed, Rick scheduled the work quickly. He came with his workers and remeasured everything. We discussed the design and he gave me some catalogues to look at designs. I selected a combination of two designs. Rick and I discussed the finish on the railings and I selected black. The railings were installed. There were a total of three different steps, each different from one another. The railings in the front of the house needed to curve with the conture of the steps. One other was just a straight forward design which was straight. The final set went in an area where I plant my vegetables. The railing needed to be spaced so I could still have access to work in the garden yet allow safety on some very steep steps. The work was completed within a few days after starting. When the final coat of paint was finished I was not completely satisfied with the finish. Rick came to inspect the work and was not satisfied either. He sent the painters back to sand and repaint all the railings. He suggested instead of the black an antique bronze might be a better choice for color. He was right. I was very pleased with the final paint.
Rick has completed several projects for me and I have been very satisfied with all the work.
I will call him again when I am ready for my next project.

"The concrete and gate install went relatively quickly. The patio cover required permits which took some time. Once received, the patio went up quick and the planter brick repair was also quick. Overall a good partnership that I will hire again."

"they are located near the coast so they are unfamiliar with where Lowes is. With that said, installation went well. I pushed to get new copper piping as we were taking out my old unit. I didn't argue the price asked, but I expect superior installation and superior service. I also have an undersink unit where the owner says to take out and plumber says its up to me. So I left it. Hmmmm. Hope I made the right decision. They would have had to go to plumbing store to do it perfectly for me. They are all very nice, hardworking. Most importantly I already had a back flush unit I was taking out due to age, and this unit is a really nice one. I'd do it again. Really nice water in the whole house including spigots on the house. But does not include irrigation system. This is the water I wanted and my hair my skin and my dishes are all perfect now. 10 year warranty, no maintenance and a yearly checkup included.

"I contacted Jesse to repair a perimeter fence which extends several hundred feet and which is heavily overgrown with vegetation we didn’t want to harm. He came to inspect the job himself and then sent Juan to do the repair, which had to be done in about ten places. Juan was very efficient and professional, taking care around the vegetation as if the property were his own. And he was very courteous and flexible, working with me to modify the repairs as I suggested, and coming up with intelligent suggestions of his own. I couldn’t be happier with the job Juan did, and Jesse was also very easy to communicate with. I recommend United Iron Works most highly and without any reservation."

"James is a great guy.  He was professional, friendly, courteous and was very patient as we kept finding wood that needed replacing.  He milled the siding, replace 2x4's, removed electrical box, light switches etc.  He works very efficiently as he is paid by the hour, which worried me a little, but we are so pleased with the quality of work, the type of wood he used and his work ethic.  Absolutely and totally glad we called him!   Thanks James!

Welding questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can cut plexiglass by hand using a sharp knife or blade (utility knife, box cutter, glass cutter, etc.).

Yes, you can cut up a box spring., but you’ll need to do so in layers. You can clear the fabric and fluff away to reveal the springs before removing them as well.

Some welding projects, such as repairing pipes or fences, require travel, whereas others, like furniture repair, do not necessarily require the welder to come to you. Travel and overhead factor into the overall cost of your welding project. Some of the most common welding projects include:

  • Metal furniture repair: $35–$100

  • Pipe repair: $200–$1,000

  • Small gates: $550–$750

  • Fencing: $1,200–$1,800

  • Fabricated sheet metal welding: $750–$2,500

Cutting rectangular ductwork requires careful measurements and the right technique. Use a measuring tape and pencil to mark the cutting lines accurately. Tin snips are excellent for straight cuts on smaller ducts. For more extensive or thicker rectangular ducts, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade is effective.

Ensure the duct is well-supported and secure while cutting to prevent wobbling and maintain precision. After cutting, use a metal file to smooth any sharp edges, ensuring safety during installation.

Choosing the right metal fabricator for your project begins with research. Find a reputable fabrication company by searching for reputable contractors in your area, and then reviewing photos of their previous work, customer reviews, and photos of the company’s workshop.

Once you’ve narrowed down the list, contact the companies to ask about the types of metal fabrication projects they specialize and inquire about guarantees and warranties on workmanship. You should also ensure the company uses high-quality material, and ask about the schedule and turnaround time for your proposed project.
