"The owner of this company is Nato, a native of my father's home state in Mexico, Zacatecas. I called Nato and asked for an estimate twice. Once because I needed a fence rebuilt and once because I wanted my patio done. Both times, Nato was very professional and helpful. He came up to the East Bay from the peninsula, was on time for the estimate appointment and got back to me very quickly with the estimate. His estimate was not the cheapest, but still fair. I ended up going with a cheaper estimate but the other contractor took a long time to finish and did not pay attention to detail. For my next landscape need, I will hire Nato."

"Vince designed a new concrete driveway that was then stamped and stained. The tiered walkway was designed to go from the street to the front door. It was accented w/lights. A brick wall was built surrounding the newly sodded lawn and it also provided a place for planting. Flagstone was placed around the plants for a finished look. The work that was done transformed our property and makes us smile every day. Vince and his crew worked very hard to complete the job on time and to satisfy our expectations !!!"

"Melvin did our landscaping, including the design, selection, and installation. Our original backyard was multi-tiered and not landscaped at all - most of the surface area was dirt that could not be planted. Urizar Landscaping as a team did an incredible job, not only clearing all the space and preparing the soil, but hand selecting plants (over 150) for the different areas of the yard, putting in a new lawn and building three raised garden beds in our backyard. We have continued to use them a few times a month for maintenance and replanting for the season."

"Jerson and his crew were fairly priced, very efficient and did great work on our front yard landscape demolition and removal. They removed several bushes, stumps a 1400 square foot dead lawn and cement strips with nasty rebar. A very hard working crew! Communication was superb!"

"Initial progress was slow, and Pete communicated that would be the case at the beginning.  He'd fit my project in between other projects, and I was happy to get started.  After a couple of weeks though, plants arrived before we'd had a chance to finalize any plant lists.  I was also concerned that I hadn't received an updated estimate for the entire project. When I received the revised invoice, I nearly fell out of my chair!  It was more than double the first half of the work, and outside the budget we'd discussed.  It put me in a bad spot because I could clearly see the money had already been spent with the plants in the ground outside.  I raised this issue with Pete and he revised the invoice to include other things we discussed at the same price, which also included two maintenance visits.  I paid the amount remaining on the invoice and felt we had reached a good compromise.
The time for the first maintenance visit came and went with no word from Pete.  So I sent an email.  I eventually got a response, and we scheduled a time.  I had concerns regarding the death of a couple of plants, and the irrigation appeared to need adjusting based on dead patches in the lawn.  I was rescheduled, but no one showed up for the revised time.  I haven't received a reply to any follow ups.
One major point of this garden was that I needed it to be low maintenance.  A critical step that I feel was left out was some sort of herbicide application once the old lawn was removed and the hardscape was complete before any plants went in.  As I'd feared, with the first bit of rain, a thick rush of weeds completely covered everything.  My expectation was that Pete and crew would sort that out during their maintenance visits, but those never happened.  I ended up putting in 3 hrs to get it under control, and have to put in about an hour in upkeep every week.  I believe much of that would have been prevented if he'd completed the herbicide step.
The lawn that was installed was supposed to be a "no-mow" variety, but it's seriously 2 ft high in some places.  Everything I've read about this type of lawn claims mowing once or twice a season.  It's high enough now where it's dwarfing the planted areas.

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

If you spray a DIY vinegar solution that contains high salt, it can disrupt the soil's structure and make it difficult for plants to grow. That's why it's vital to avoid spraying vinegar solution on areas where you are trying to grow plants and flowers. When using a mix of vinegar and soap, some say you can plant a few days after the vinegar dries.

Yes, many providers include aeration and soil testing in the seeding process. Confirm with your contractor.

Although these terms sound similar and are sometimes used interchangeably, overseeding and reseeding your lawn are very different processes. Overseeding, the simpler of the two, involves a few steps to restore thinned or patchy grass by raking, aerating, and seeding uneven areas of turf to promote regrowth.

Reseeding a lawn is a more drastic and involved process, often necessary if the lawn is diseased, more than a third dead, or very overgrown with weeds. Unlike overseeding, it requires removing most of the existing lawn and starting a new one from scratch, a much bigger and more time-consuming job.

Costs depend on property size, service frequency, and additional tasks like aeration or overseeding.

Depending on the lawn treatments, the best times of the year to redo your lawn are between mid-August and mid-September for overseeding and renovation treatments. For areas such as the southern United States, lawn aeration works best during the fall, when the temperatures begin to drop. Otherwise, early spring is your next best bet because the grass is fresh and ready to absorb nutrients, and the temperature isn’t hot enough to fry the grass and the renovation materials.
