"Joseph Carroll and his team performed superior wood repair, window installation and complete exterior painting of my residence. All the wood used was of matching quality to existing materials. Joseph made multiple visits to the work site to assure crew remained on schedule and they cleaned up the work area thoroughly each day, which was most appreciated. I would highly recommend Joseph for his excellent work, courteous demeanor and timely execution of my extensive wood restoration/painting project."

"We enjoyed working with Denali National Construction, including Victor and Mayra (the owners), and their great team! Victor is very knowledgeable and easy to work with. This company was referred to us by Angi to replace three fascia boards (required removing and reinstalling roof tiles and waterproof paper in order to replace two of the fascia boards) and a wooden side-gate. Victor was able to meet me, provided me his written quote, and scheduled to start our project within a very short time. Victor and his team showed up on time and completed the project within the scheduled timeframe with an excellent quality workmanship. We would definitely use this company again for our future projects. We were very pleased and highly recommend this company!"

"An engineering friend recommended that I contact Farid to inquire about his carpentry skills, after seeing his work on a few projects. Farid personally came out, drafted a proposal after carefully inspecting the necessary repairs, and worked regularly and diligently to vastly improve the strength and appearance of my 17 year old backyard structure. It was a very pleasant experience overall, and Farid and his assistant Eddie did a beautiful job. Would hire again."

"Mike is hands down the best contractor we have ever worked with!! He did a full tear down and rebuild of our staircase as well a a few other major projects. He is a true master at his craft! He was timely, finished the project per plan and budget. He also has other contractors he coordinates with who were fantastic. He even built a gate for my kids while the staircase was down ( we still have it up because itâ s so cute) you wonâ t find many contractors that take things like that into consideration. If youâ re going to have a contractor in your home you want to feel comfortable, youâ ll get that with Mike and a very beautiful project in the end. Our stairs are the first thing you see when you walk in and we get compliments on them constantly!"

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface materials can be cut with standard woodworking tools, such as a circular saw or a jigsaw. However, it is crucial to use the correct type of blade to avoid damaging the material.

For a circular saw, a tungsten carbide-tipped blade is required; a triple chip grind blade is highly recommended. For a jigsaw, you should use a fine-tooth down-cutting blade. Do not use blades designed for cutting wood, as they can cause microfractures that weaken the edges of the countertop. A diamond blade is also unnecessary, as those are designed for harder materials like natural stone, which Corian is not.

After cutting, the edge will be rough. It is essential to sand and smooth the cut edge to prevent microfractures, which can eventually compromise the integrity of the countertop.

There are two ways you can cut trim for doorways: with a miter saw or a table saw. Mitered joints need a 45-degree angle. If you’re unfamiliar with a miter saw, you might want to consider buying extra trim pieces or choosing butted joints instead. One wrong cut, and you’ll need to power up the saw again with a new piece.

Butted joints—also called shaker style—don’t need a 45-degree angle. Instead, your side pieces attach perpendicularly to the header trim and only require a straight cut.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface countertops can be cut with standard woodworking tools like a circular saw or a jigsaw, but using the correct blade is crucial for the best results.

The recommended blade is a tungsten carbide-tipped blade, often called a solid-surface planer or triple chip grind blade. This type of blade is hard enough to cut through the material effectively. For a jigsaw, a fine-tooth down-cutting blade should be used.

It is important to note that a diamond blade is not necessary. Diamond blades are designed for harder materials like natural stone, concrete, or brick, and Corian is not a natural stone.

Using blades designed for wood is not recommended as they can cause microfractures that weaken the countertop's edges. While a tungsten carbide blade provides a much cleaner cut, the resulting edge will still be rough and must be sanded and smoothed to prevent microfractures from developing over time.

While you may have heard people use millwork and carpentry interchangeably, they aren’t the same. Millwork is a type of carpentry, which means that carpentry isn’t always millwork. You can tell millwork apart from other types of carpentry because it’s manufactured at a mill. Notably, casework is also confused with millwork. Casework is different because it refers to boxes like cabinets and bookshelves.

Spindles on a deck may also be called balusters or pickets. While not as important to the structural support of the deck as the rail posts, they play a critical role in ensuring the deck is safe to use by closing in large gaps in the railing. For this reason, balusters must be no more than 4 inches away from one another.
