"Gabe and his team are great! I definitely will hire them again. Quality of work is outstanding. He did a stacked crown molding that gave our home a whole new look and probably added about 30k in value to the home."

From the initial consultation through the final walkthrough, their team demonstrated exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. They took the time to understand our vision, offered practical suggestions, and kept us informed at every stage of the build. The project was completed on schedule and within the agreed budget, with no surprises along the way. The quality of work truly stands out. The finishes are flawless, the structure feels solid and well-built, and every detail reflects their commitment to excellence. "Mike is hands down the best contractor we have ever worked with!! He did a full tear down and rebuild of our staircase as well a a few other major projects. He is a true master at his craft! He was timely, finished the project per plan and budget. He also has other contractors he coordinates with who were fantastic. He even built a gate for my kids while the staircase was down ( we still have it up because itâ s so cute) you wonâ t find many contractors that take things like that into consideration. If youâ re going to have a contractor in your home you want to feel comfortable, youâ ll get that with Mike and a very beautiful project in the end. Our stairs are the first thing you see when you walk in and we get compliments on them constantly!"

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Most landscape timbers are 8 feet long, but some are also available in 10-foot and 12-foot lengths. Choose the length that will allow you to install landscape timbers using the least amount of cutting to fit. Shorter timbers will allow you to more easily create angles and shorter plant bed sides.

While you may have heard people use millwork and carpentry interchangeably, they aren’t the same. Millwork is a type of carpentry, which means that carpentry isn’t always millwork. You can tell millwork apart from other types of carpentry because it’s manufactured at a mill. Notably, casework is also confused with millwork. Casework is different because it refers to boxes like cabinets and bookshelves.

No, you do not usually tip a carpenter for their work. However, if you’ve been very happy with the level of service and quality of work, a 10% to 20% tip would likely be accepted with thanks. If you’re not sure, it can help to discuss the carpenter’s policy or preference for tipping before beginning the project.

No, beams are the primary load-bearers for flooring or roofing systems, and they distribute the weight of the structure to your foundational supports, while joists bear far less weight and distribute their loads to the beams. Beams are usually thicker and longer, and they have support posts or foundation walls beneath them for support.

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.
