"We recently had Mega Power Electric Inc install a solar system and panels. The President and provided excellent communication all the way through the process. He even met with us after installation to explain the almost incomprehensible PG&E bill. Although not the least expensive bid, his was competitive and I felt he was as interested in educating me about solar and the various types of panels and inverter systems as he was in selling a system. He demonstrated how the array of panels would meet our energy needs and as opposed to some of the other companies, wasn't selling us more than we needed. We are very satisfied with our solar system and I highly recommended Mega Power Electric Inc."

"We had a slow start at first but that was not because of Ryan's service, we originally contacted him in February and was on his schedule for February 24th, however the current Job he was working took longer as the job apparently had grown into a longer job.  So we scheduled to February 27th, and then the rain started we had several much needed storms coming in and it was very important that the decks were totally dry before coating and it had to be dry for at least 48 hours after the coating.  Our next schedule was on April 8th due to March being off and on rain.
When Ryan arrived at 10:00 in the morning he brought the material the his crew would need to complete the job, his crew was a little late but once the started the job they did a very efficient job and cleaned up after they were done they were very pleasant and professional. All in all we are very happy with Ryan and his crew.

"On time for each appointment. Worked in the rain to meet the agreed upon deadline, worked diligently daily to meet timeframe. The job was completed to the specifications and satisfaction of myself. The Randy Aldred Construction employees, with regards to housekeeping, left the premises in great shape, cleaned up thoroughly after themselves. I work from home and they were respect of me and my time and worked with me and around me. I would definitely use them again and refer them to any neighbor (in fact I did refer Randy to a neighbor)."

"I am very satisfied with Eugene’s work on a kitchen and bedroom renovation project in Tahoe City. Throughout the project he was a great communicator. He was responsive and he met his timeline and commitments. The quality of the work did not disappoint. It’s incredibly rare to find a contractor that finishes work on time, and on target, but Eugene is that person. I recommend Eugene without reservation."

"I had a great experience with B.E.S. Painting. I had a relatively small project and was turned down by many painting companies due to full schedules. But when I reached out to Brian, he willingly accommodated my small office job. Brian worked within my budget to provide a thorough and quality paint job. His associate LJ even set up a chair that had been delivered while he finished up painting. He went above and beyond. My office looks just as I imagined and had hoped for. I recommend B.E.S. Painting for projects large and small."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

In general, you need a footing at each corner of your deck, and within 8 feet of each other. So, how many you need depends on the size and shape of your deck, plus any local building codes. It also depends on factors like the load capacity of your soil and the weight of your deck. You can find a footing calculator online or contact a pro for support.

What goes under your floating deck depends on your preferences. Some homeowners put landscaping fabric underneath their decks to prevent weeds from popping up through the boards. Others choose to build a floating deck over grass or gravel. However, it’s best not to set your deck directly on the ground. Instead, set your deck on blocks to keep it elevated enough to prevent moisture from rotting the wood.

The problems with composite decking include a high rate of expansion and contraction from temperature swings. This characteristic can cause boards to split, delaminate, or peel. In addition, significant movement can cause shrinking, warping, twisting, and bending. For this reason, you should minimize moisture and ensure proper airflow below your deck.

PVC decking tends to be cooler than composite because the material is less dense and absorbs less heat. However, it depends on the deck’s color. A dark-colored PVC deck may run hotter than a light-colored composite deck. If you’re concerned about your deck getting too hot, it’s best to stick to a light color such as beige or gray.

The best way to sand a deck is by cleaning it, sanding the boards and stairs with 60- or 80-grit sandpaper, and sanding the railings and posts with 80-grit sandpaper. You should sand in the direction of the wood grain to avoid damaging the timber. When sanding your deck, use medium pressure and aim for an even sand. Pressing too hard with a sander can damage decks, as most are softwoods.
