"DH Construction did a complete remodel of our very small kitchen. It entailed demolishing cabinets and a partial demolishment of a load bearing wall. We added a kitchen island, redid our floors, added barn doors, added quartz counters, additional counters and cabinets. Dave worked with our budget and gave us great ideas which we did not even know were possible. He and his crew were very professional, considerate of our time, and always arrived on time. Dave gave us great advice, and made our ideas become a reality. I finally have my dream kitchen! We would definitely recommend him! We will be hiring him next year to add an outside kitchen to our back yard."

"Don and his team are awesome. I bought an older home that needed a new water heater installed and old galvanized pipes removed. Don gave me very fair estimates, and despite some errors on my part making his team work a few extra hours, he didn't charge me more. He also informed me of several tax rebates that saved me over a 1000 bucks. He knows his stuff. His team was very friendly and they all were professional and punctual."

"I went with Expert Home Builders on a room addition. The big and expensive project and bog responsibility but I'm happy I hired this contractor. David and his team showed up on time and they were great from first day to end of this project. David was knowledgeable, honest and helpful. He informed me about working progress all the time and contacted me immediately if there was something important. His team worked hard, kept working area clean as possible, they were professional, friendly and quick also. The project was finished ahead of schedule and results are excellent. The quality of work is superb, overall experience excellent and price very acceptable. I would highly recommend Expert Home Builders to all people I know!"

"Phenomenally. Robert & his team installed new flooring, painted several bedrooms, installed ceramic tiling in my bathroom, a walk in shower, and bathtub. Also installed hardwood floor in kitchen & bedrooms. I’m beyond happy with the outcome of the work. If you’re needing work done around your home, definitely give him a call. Extremely polite, respectful & great communication as well."

"I couldn’t be happier. This is a family business and reflects that level of service. John responded soon after I selected him for a quote off Angie’s List. He showed up for an estimate at the stated time and let me know scope of what he would do. I received bids from 2 other companies and neither were as thorough nor as well priced. He provided a detailed written bid and his team arrived on time. They were courteous and clean with their work. Because they were sealing my ducts at the registers, they were in most rooms of my house and left each room the way they found it. I felt assured of their competency and the job was completed on schedule. I’m waiting for building inspection but am certain it will pass inspection. I would recommend them to anyone in the area."

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Yes, modular homes offer a wide range of customization options for layout, finishes, and features.

A floor plan is a less detailed illustration showing a building or room's layout from above, including elements like windows, doors, walls, and fixtures. It offers a simplified view for homeowners. In contrast, a blueprint is a more detailed, to-scale architectural drawing that includes all parts of the building plans, such as structural elements, construction details, and utility schematics. While a floor plan can be a type of view within a blueprint, the complete blueprint contains all the necessary details to turn the plan into a reality.

Structural engineers draw structural plans, which include detailed drawings of the structural components of a home only. Complete house plans will require additional work from an architect or draftsperson, whose drawings will take the structural drawings into account. They’ll also include more details about the finishing materials and layout of a home, including everything from roofing and flooring materials to the position of furniture, light fixtures, switches, and plumbing fixtures.

While possible for small projects, professional designers ensure compliance with building codes and structural integrity.

The only real drawback to green building is that it’s more expensive up front, with per-square-foot prices sitting 33% higher than what you’d pay to build a traditional home. The higher cost is due to more expensive building materials and more labor to ensure every aspect of the home is as efficient as possible. However, green buildings often save money in the long run, so this is just a temporary downside.
