"Called via phone, asked for an estimate and was quoted a great price. I called another company prior to calling 5 Star Plumbing and another company wanted to charge me 4 times the amount. Peter arrived early, installed the part, and tested the water heater. Provided excellent work and customer service. Highly recommend and would use his services again. Peter also came out within 10-15 minutes after speaking to him since we're located nearby. Thanks!"

"The plumber walked me through the pricing before starting the work, and installed the new disposal and faucet in a timely manner. He did a good job cleaning up after the job, and the work has held up ever since."

"Plumber responded the same day I called. I already purchased the parts and he installed them. He was done in 3 hours and did a very good job. It was a little more money than I expected, but when you get quality work you have to pay for it. I would use this company again. And I recommend them."

"The technician was on time, was very nice, and completed 2 different repairs that I asked for. I paid $99 for the service. I needed my garbage disposal replaced and my bathroom sink was clogged quite a way back in the plumbing.
I had purchased a new garbage disposal, but I was missing a part. He purchased it for me so I didn't have to go back to Home Depot, and it only cost an extra $20 for the part.
I will definitely call Jerry Woodward again. They went above and beyond what I expected. Great customer service :)

"During a house purchase US Trenchless came out and scoped the main sewer line.  They gave me a detailed report.  They also gave me a quote to replace the line.  After doing some comparison shopping US Trenchless beat a competitors low bid by 10%.  The work was done on time and professionally.  I would recommend them and use them again.  Ross and Tim were great."

"Excellent service! We are a growing family with one toilet. I can’t stress how important it is to have your plumbing working properly. Rooter and Lavish Plumbing came to my rescue when my toilet was backed up. I tried everything and nothing worked. They arrived quickly and were reasonably priced. Thank you Lavish!"

"The finished product was better than I expected. It is obvious that this company takes pride in the work that they did. After extensive masking the walls were sprayed on. This was a great rom that included my Living room, dining room, and Kitchen. It was completely finished in one day including trim, base boards, and doors. I highly recommend 4 comers construction. Really good people who do quality work."

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

On average, a garbage disposal can last anywhere from 7 to 12 years, with many models functioning well for about 10 years. With heavy usage, a motor may last a minimum of five years, while grinding plates will wear down over time. It's generally a good idea to consider a replacement if your unit is approaching the 10-year mark. Other signs that it's time for a new disposal include frequent leaks, persistent clogs, lingering odors, lack of power, or unusual noises. If your unit is not that old, it's worth investigating if a less expensive part, like a rubber seal or a loose hose, is causing the issue.

Your garbage disposal will only affect the health of your septic tank if you’re using it too frequently, or filling it with organic waste that doesn’t fully break down. If the tank fills up with too many solids, the bacteria won’t have enough time to consume it before more is added, which can lead to an overflow in the drain field. Your tank will need to be pumped more frequently with excessive or improper garbage disposal use.

Most garbage disposals have a reset button that can be triggered with a tool as simple and accessible as your index finger. That said, if you need to perform a more in-depth troubleshooting step, like manually moving the arms inside the unit or rotating the impeller plate, a hex wrench is the most common tool you’ll need. Most garbage disposals come with a hex wrench.

The most common garbage disposal size in the U.S. is 1/2 horsepower. This size is ideal for households with three or fewer people or those that don't produce much food waste. Although 1/2 horsepower can't handle the typical food waste load for a household of four (which is about 250 pounds of food waste annually) as effectively as 3/4 horsepower, it remains the most common size of garbage disposal on the market.

Never put glass in the garbage disposal. It can damage your disposal or eject shards of glass out of the disposal and cause injury. If you get broken glass in your garbage disposal, turn it off and cut the power from the breaker, use a tool like pliers or tongs to remove the glass, and use a wet-dry vacuum to remove the remaining glass pieces. If you can’t access the disposal safely, call a garbage disposal repair pro.
