"• The coupler on the trailer was bent. • The trailer itself was in good condition. • The owner called Alex Ortega for assistance. • Alex reviewed the situation and I purchased a new coupler from Harbor Freight. • Alex spent six hours welding the new coupler onto the trailer. • The job was done very well, and the owner was very pleased. • The owner recommends Alex Ortega for any welding jobs. • The owner uses the trailer to transport their trike and move items from stores. • The owner notes that paying for delivery from stores can add up, making a trailer a worthwhile investment."

"Justo is the best!!! He came to my house and welded a piece of metal that I needed for my hydraulic log splitter; he did a wonderful job with a perfect bead on all sides. I am more than satisfied with the work he did he did; a wonderful job!!! Not only that but he also educated me on what needed to be done and what was being done. He is extremely polite he was on time and his prices were very fair. I would not hesitate to hire him again. "I received 3 estimates and Extreme Welding was the lowest. The Wrought Iron fence looks good however, I had to touch up the paint because it was spotty in places and the fence is not as level on the bottom as it could be. Ken was on time with the deadline and did keep in touch with me regarding the progression of the gate and fence."

Welding questions, answered by experts

There are a few things you can ask welders before you hire them to get an idea of their experience and ability levels:

  • Are you licensed and certified?

  • How long have you been in the welding business?

  • Do you commonly do the type of welding I need?

  • Do you offer any kind of warranty for your work?

  • Do you charge by the hour or by the project?

  • How long do you expect my welding project to take?

  • What steps do you take to minimize errors in your work?

Sawing your hot tub into more manageable chunks so it can be lifted easily into a truck takes several hours. Generally, 2.5 hours for smaller hot tubs and around 4 hours for larger ones with the help of one to two people. If money isn't a concern and you want to skip the physical labor, you can hire a pro to get the job done.

Professional metal fabricators typically charge around $70 per hour, but the total cost of your project will depend on several factors. The largest cost drivers are the size, complexity, and design of the project, as well as the price and type of metal used. A good way to estimate the total cost is to multiply the cost of raw materials by four; typically, one-quarter of the total goes toward materials and three-quarters toward labor. Your geographic location can also influence costs, as labor and material prices vary by region.

Yes, you can cut up a box spring., but you’ll need to do so in layers. You can clear the fabric and fluff away to reveal the springs before removing them as well.

The cost to weld aluminum averages about $14 to $22 per pound. The type of metal factors into the overall cost of any welding project due to the cost of the materials and the expertise required to work with it. Some of the most common metals used by welders include:

  • Magnesium alloy: $7–$16 per pound

  • Low-carbon steel: $11–$12 per pound

  • Stainless steel: $13–$15 per pound

  • Copper/brass: $24–$29 per pound

  • Cast iron: $38–$79 per pound

  • Titanium: $60–$85 per pound
