"Silverton and his team did an absolutely amazing job on cutting our huge cypress trees and strawberry trees. It was an all day job and we couldn't be happier with their profession and expertise. They also made sure to clean up every bit of debris from our yard and our 3 neighbors yards! We will definitely hire them for future projects."

Customers say: True professional

"This business deserves my highest recommendation. Joel is very knowledgeable about tree care, professional, punctual, conscientious, and his team leaves the worksite nicely cleaned after the work is done. I needed extensive tree work done twice by the company, at my property in Pacific Grove. Each time I have been very pleased with their excellent work and very reasonable prices."

"I was reluctant to have my beautiful tree trimmed. Not only did they solve the problem of removing overhanging branches on my roof, but they shaped the tree beautifully. I highly recommend."

"Arthur and one othe person did a great job. They worked hard and quickly to clear all the weeds and trim the large bushes. They then cleaned up everything really well. I'm really pleased with the work they did and would definitely hire them again."

"They gave me options and executed the scope of work I wanted. They mulched the tree and removed branches from the trimmed treed. At my request the put that material in a weedy side yard. Now that yard looks and smells great. The super shaggy Palm looks many ft taller now that it's all trimmed up. They went above and beyond by cleaning my roof and gutters of all the pine tree needles. I highly recommend their service."

"A team of two workers arrived on time and we talked about the job which involved pruning several tall trees and shrubs in a small fenced garden space. They listened very carefully and made certain that they knew exactly what I wanted before starting the work. They were extremely careful of fences, and smaller plants in the garden and they seemed knowledgeable about shaping and pruning technique. The area where they worked was in the back of my property and it wasn't easy to carry all the cuttings to the street where their truck was parked. They removed all refuse and left the garden looking better than when they came! The charges seemed fair considering the setting, the scope of the work, and the time and effort they spent doing a great job!"

"My yard was looking a disgrace and I heard about Maplewood through instagram, quick dm and the next day they were at my door. Very clean, very respectful, and very trustworthy. Ever since I’ve had them come every week or so and now my yard, front and back look the best in the neighborhood 🙏 I would highly recommend doing business with these gentlemen."

Small jobs welcome

"Look no further! Jeremy is very professional, clean, efficient, and does a great job. I hired him based on reviews and after meeting him in person. I highly recommend his services. The ceiling light he installed was perfectly done. He had instructed me to shop for was needed before he arrived (which saved time and money), for example, a dimmer switch and light bulbs. Everything went so well and I am very pleased."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

You can use a felling ax to chop down a tree by following the same prep and steps as a chainsaw, but be prepared to use some muscle. For trees bigger than 7 inches in diameter, it can take some time and serious strength to cut down a tree using just an ax.

Hiring an arborist or tree surgeon is usually more expensive than a standard tree company, but it is often worth the investment. Arborists have education and certifications that standard companies typically lack, leading to a more professional, expert-level service. Their expertise is particularly valuable for diseased or infested trees, as they can ensure safer removal and help prevent the issue from spreading. Additionally, arborists may be necessary for work near power lines, as uncertified companies are often not permitted to service these trees. If your goal is to preserve the health of your trees, an arborist is the best choice. Their services, such as stump grinding, are also performed with greater expertise to ensure a safe depth that won't cause your lawn to collapse over time.

Your neighbor is not in a good position to know if your trees are truly dead or pose any kind of danger. That’s why hiring an arborist or tree service expert can be such an important part of the process. If the trees are still alive and don’t pose any threat, you’re in the clear (but you may want to document and photograph everything in case events turn sour down the road).

But if a tree is visibly dead and near the property line, you should remove it to be safe. If a dead tree falls on a neighbor’s property, they may have grounds to sue for negligence. If any branches on trees have died, it’s a good idea to cut them back for similar reasons.

The exact answer to this question depends on which region of the country you’re talking about, but according to various tree counts, some of the most common types of trees in the United States include red maple, Douglas fir, quaking aspen, loblolly pine, and sweetgum.

An unsafe tree can cause serious damage to your home and property, so tree inspections are important to ensure your home isn’t in danger from a nearby tree. Unhealthy trees can also be unsafe trees, as diseases and insect damage can compromise a tree’s stability, leading to potential damage and safety risks.
