Customers say: True professional

"Joel & his team are honest, brave , & hard working. They arrived on time everyday & cleaned up & left my home neat & well cared for every night. I have dozens of large live oaks & Monterey pines on my property some 60 feet tall. Joel helped me maintain a fire safe cleared area all around my home removing huge branches & limbs from trees that had to be climbed & cabled for safety. These are tree professionals. Actual experts not just tree trimmers. My property is a steep hillside. No problem. Most of my trees are 50 to 100 years old. Some I planted as a boy. I am 63. Everything was done safely & neatly with every tree cared for so each will thrive & live another 50 or 100 years. Joel even found a dove’s nest full of baby birds on a limb 40 feet up set to be cut & came down to ask me how to proceed. We saved the limb to save the nest while the mother & father flew around nervously. Hire Gil Tree Service. This guy is the real deal. They are the best decision you can make."

"Arthur and one othe person did a great job. They worked hard and quickly to clear all the weeds and trim the large bushes. They then cleaned up everything really well. I'm really pleased with the work they did and would definitely hire them again."

"The workmen were on time which is amazing in Ben Lomond! They trimmed up a huge oak tree that we had in our backyard and made it look so nice. They hold away all the clippings, the branches, etc. that were taken from the tree. Great company."

"This tree service was the most reasonably prices of the companies we contacted. Their experience in t he field enabled them to work quickly and efficiently, they left the work area clean and tidy. Their tree trimming allowed more air and light into the backyard. This excellent job is not the first they have done for us and is the reason we called them again for a second job."

"They were efficient, friendly, and did a job exactly as expected and contracted. 'they trimmed 2 trees, 3 camellias, 1 Wisteria, and removed one fairly large Lilac with stump grinding. The Camellias were a real challenge as they were allowed to grow at least 2 times larger than what I wanted due to my neglect and someone else' bad trim job. I was delighted with the whole result. I would hire them again without even thinking about it. Very, very reasonable rates for an excellent job. Gabriel has 21 years of experience and knew exactly what to do to correct a leaning problem with my Purple Pony Plum tree."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The best tool to cut trees is a chain saw. You can adjust your chain saw to the correct size based on the size of the branches, offering you the fastest and cleanest cut for medium- to large-sized trees. Depending on the type of chainsaw you use, you can cut through larger trees than you would with a more manual tool like an ax.

No, homeowners insurance typically does not cover the cost of removing a dead, sick, or rotting tree that is still standing. Insurance is designed to protect against sudden and unexpected accidents, whereas a tree dying or rotting over time is considered a maintenance issue. Coverage usually only applies after a tree has fallen and caused damage to your property.

The exact answer to this question depends on which region of the country you’re talking about, but according to various tree counts, some of the most common types of trees in the United States include red maple, Douglas fir, quaking aspen, loblolly pine, and sweetgum.

It may be possible, but transplanting a large, mature tree can be a tricky project, and some trees handle it better than others. If you have a tree you need to save and are considering transplanting it elsewhere, we highly suggest calling a tree removal service and arranging a consultation to see what they say (and how much a full transplant would cost).

Light-bark trees are most notorious for producing lots of sap when wounded. These varieties include maples, birches, poplars, dogwoods, magnolias, and elms, and they will bleed more when the trees are dormant. That’s why it’s a good idea to prune them in the summer months rather than waiting until winter.
