"I hired Rod West Painting to paint the upstairs of our home. Rod came in with a bid that was substantially less than what we had been qoured for the same work by another company. Where Rod and his crew differ is that we were told not to move anything, as the crew would do that for us! They took pictures down and replaced them after the painting was completed. They moved furniture and put the furniture back in the same place and they moved two heavy filing cabinets for us and put them back after the painting was completed. They print with a brush or a roller and they did not use spray paint like the previous contractor. What a difference that was from the last contractor who had us move everything out of the two rooms to be painted. That itself saved an awful lot of work for my wife and I. Rods crew was professional in every respect. They were on time each morning and the areas painted were left spotless as their cleanup was perfect. "Eddy got the job done over several days. It was a big job to re-stain front door and panels and molding inside and out. Also re-stain patio door inside. The front door had older-style hardware. We could not find a replacement hardware set so Eddy refinished and painted the old set. It turned out beautiful! Eddy also painted my very high window wells in the family room. beautiful. Maintain your wattle fence by inspecting it at least twice per year for loose weaving and degrading branches. Replace any seriously degraded sections, ensure water drains properly around the posts, and trim any sprouting branches if you used green wood. If you notice the weave loosening, you can often tighten it by gently pushing down on the top branches. You can also apply a natural wood preservative every two to three years to extend the fence's lifespan.
If it rains after you paint your fence, you may need to apply another coat of paint after the fence thoroughly dries. This will ensure a good seal if the rain weakened any areas of the paint. However, if your paint had enough time to dry thoroughly before it rained, you should have no problem.
Wood stains last anywhere from two to five years, depending on exposure to the elements, your local climate, the type of stain, and the surface it’s on. For instance, vertical surfaces last longer than horizontal surfaces. Some types of woods, like dense hardwoods, will require a recoat yearly, as they are too dense for the stain to absorb. In any event, apply a recoat every 2 to 4 years. As for storage, a can of unopened stain can last up to 5 years, though results may vary.
Adding a second coat of stain to wood can even out the color to some extent, but it won't drastically alter the hue if the initial application is too light or too dark. It's more effective at enhancing the richness of the color rather than significantly changing it. Ensure the first coat is dry before applying the second.
Stains penetrate wood best when it's cool and dry, so you want to avoid moisture. If the wood is wet upon application, or if it rains before the stain dries, the water will soak into the wood and displace the staining solution. This leads to a flaky and blotchy look, which is the opposite of a sumptuous even coat. Once the stain has fully cured, after about 3 days, rain shouldn’t cause you any problems.
