"Matt did an excellent job rewiring my 1900+ square foot home built in 1956. They switched out my panel from the old fuse type to a new panel box. Upgraded the main panel box with a larger amp to handle the upgrade. They were extremely professional polite and always on time. Matt was great about communicating with me the process and needs for the house. I will be hiring MB Electric to do additional electrical work for the installation of a whole house fan. I highly recommend Matt and Abel."

"Outstanding experience with Fox Electric! Toby was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain all of my options for a main panel upgrade. He provided several solutions at different price points, allowing me to choose what worked best for my needs and budget. The quality of work was excellent, communication was great, and the entire process was smooth from start to finish. It's clear that Toby takes pride in his work and genuinely cares about his customers. I highly recommend Fox Electric to anyone in need of electrical services and will absolutely be calling them again for future projects."

"Luis was very knowledgable and professional. He was able to figure out the electrical issue we were having and quickly resolved it. We had received 2 other estimates and Luminous' fee was far more reasonable. We will definitely use them in the future!"

"Cosmic Comfort was absolutely wonderful. From my first phone call, to them coming to my home to give me an estimate to completing the job was such a positive experience. I would highly recommend this wonderful company to anyone looking for help from electrical, solar, and any other home needs you may have to call Cosmic Comfort before you call anyone else. Make Cosmic Comfort your first call, do not waist your time calling anyone else."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

The easiest way to determine the amperage of your electrical outlets is to check the corresponding breaker in your home’s breaker panel. The number is likely noted on the circuit breaker. If that fails, it’s possible to tell 15-amp and 20-amp outlets apart by looking at them. Fifteen-amp outlets have two vertical holes, while 20-amp outlets have one vertical hole and one T-shaped hole.

Daisy-chaining refers to placing multiple GFCI outlets in a row along the same circuit. This won’t do any harm, but it’s of limited usefulness because a properly-placed GFCI can monitor all downstream outlets on its own. Multiple GFCI installations won’t usually increase safety except in special cases.

Old electrical systems may have more problems than newer ones. In some cases, like if your home has aluminum wiring, it may be necessary to update your electrical system. You should also update your home’s wiring if it still has knob and tube wiring, which is considered dangerous by modern building standards. If that applies to you, get in touch with an electrical professional near you to obtain a quote.

You can make a pigtail with either thermoplastic high-heat-resistant nylon-coated (THHN) wire or non-metallic (NM) cable, often referred to as “Romex.” Each pigtail requires a neutral wire, a ground wire, and a live wire. The gauge of your pigtail wires must match the gauge of those on the device.

The most likely cause of accidentally flashing lights is that a regular bulb has been replaced with a flash bulb by accident. If that’s not the case, you should look for a bulb on the strand that is not quite seated properly and will lose its connection when it’s touched or moved.
