"Setup an appointment for Monday on Friday the week before. Called on Monday morning to remind and everything was already scheduled per previous call. Dave arrived in the window committed over phone. He was very professional and did the work with utmost skills and care to the surrounding. He opened up the toilet (as snaking it did not work), unclogged it and put it back the way it was before. Nice work all around and price was reasonable considering the work involved. Very satisfied with the service. I sure have saved their number for any future plumbing work. Thank you for the job well done!"

"They were fantastic! They went above and beyond what other plumbers had done in the past. The toilet lines would back up and flood the carports. It had been an ongoing issue at our older apartments. Every month, for years, the line would have to be snaked. Mainline did what the others should have done. We’ve not had any trouble since. The only con was that they initially cost more. They did such an excellent job, that we won’t have to call them out again anyway. Thanks, Miguel."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

You definitely can over-tighten toilet tank bolts. Unlike some other materials, porcelain can’t bend or flex, so when you over-tighten a screw into it, it could break against the added pressure. Only tighten them as much as needed to keep them in place and firm; any more and you could risk breaking the porcelain.

Basement toilets don’t always need a pump. However, it is the most common setup because plumbing systems use gravity to move waste away from the home. Basement toilets often sit below the home’s main sewage system, and installing a sewage ejector pump pushes the wastewater and sewage up to the main sewer line. Alternatively, you can use an upflush or macerator toilet that breaks down the waste and pushes it straight to the main sewer line rather than via a sewer line from the bathroom.

A toilet flange secures your toilet in place to the floor, and connects your toilet to the drain pipe that carries its contents to the sewer. Obvious signs that your flange needs replacement include when it can’t keep up with these two functions. If your toilet rocks back and forth or you see leaks coming from the bottom of your toilet, it’s time for a replacement. Other signs that your toilet flange is broken or faulty may include loose tiles or soft flooring around the toilet, and sewage smells.

Some of the most common bathroom leaks include showers, sinks, and toilets. Most homeowners discover these leaks because of the chronic dripping sound faucets and showers make as water drips to the ground, but a leaky toilet will often appear as a puddle. Inspect your bathroom faucets, showers, and toilets every month to detect leaks quickly.

Completing a full standard bathroom remodel offers the best value, with an average return on investment (ROI) of 70%. However, you don't need a full remodel to make an impact. To maximize value, focus on key components like flooring, the tub and shower, vanity, and cabinets. High-value upgrades include installing a walk-in shower, resurfacing a tub, retiling, or expanding the shower. For more budget-friendly options that still increase value, consider repainting with a light, neutral color, or updating the mirror and light fixtures. It's also crucial to address any necessary repairs, such as leaks, mold, or cracked tiles, as buyers will notice these issues. Avoid flashy upgrades like bathtub jets or steam showers, which don't add as much value.
