"They came to do an inspection due to toilet flooding. Water damage to lower floor ceiling and floor water damage. I have used them to do repairs on outside plumbing, and replacing toilets. They are always on time and very helpful."

"This plumber is top notch. I've had lots of projects over the years and his knowledge surpasses all the rest by a country mile. He is fair and does the job with no complaints and is extremely professional. His prices are reasonable and I'm never disappointed with his work. He is so busy that I can't seem to get him over here for a sink faucet repair. But I understand the demand. Actually I called him for a water heater replacement some time ago, and he fixed the one I had for next to nothing. He is honest to a fault. We appreciate him so much. Don't go anywhere else. Paula"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

It is safe to flush the toilet even if the pipes are frozen, and this may even help clear out the pipes. But if the supply line is frozen, the toilet won’t refill itself until it’s thawed out. You can still flush by pouring water into the tank to refill it.

Yes, you can clean a toilet tank with white vinegar. Before you do, shut off the water supply to the toilet. Then, flush it to empty the tank. Next, combine one part vinegar with one part water in a spray bottle and spray the mixture inside the tank. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse away the vinegar by pouring clean water into the tank. Make sure the tank is empty, then dip a scrub brush in vinegar and clean the tank’s inside walls. Turn the water back on and flush again to rinse away the vinegar.

If a bolt at the bottom of your toilet tank is loose, it can directly cause a leak. If a bolt securing the toilet base to the floor is loose, it won’t directly cause a leak but can lead to the same result over time. That’s because the loose bolts will eventually move the wax seal or cause cracks in the bowl from the toilet being wobbly.

The main cause of bathroom leaks is seals and connectors that loosen or deteriorate over time, causing leaks to develop. It's important to stay on top of your bathroom materials, as toilets, showers, and sinks all have different lifespans. Toilets and faucets last between 10 and 15 years on average with regular maintenance, but different parts may have shorter lifespans than others.

Sealant doesn’t need to be applied to the bolts, but it can be a good way to stop an active leak in the moment. However, don’t rely on it as a cure-all; instead, make sure to fix the problem at the source by changing or tightening the bolts.

If you do use sealant, make sure to spread it thickly and evenly across the bolts and the tank's porcelain.
