"John and his team were always prompt , courteaous and organized. They worked efficiently, taking good care of my home and furnishings. Ramon and Emilio did very good job cutting out sheetrock to match the irregular cutouts made by plumbers who repiped my home into the attic. Ramon provided a creative sollution to a complicated issue with a cut out beneath a bathroom sink which was inside a cabinet. Jose was meticulous with taping, topping and spraying the "mud". Floor to ceiling plastic "tents" were used to protect my home. This was a complicated job involving multiple walls in my home and garage. Absolutley everything John ( the owner) promised me was delivered and more. Excellent communications and up to datr information. The walls looked so good afterwards, it was hard to tell where the repairs were made. It was tempting not to paint the drywall, but of course, it's important for fire safety. John also advised me on what needed to be done by a good painting contractor and even provided a recommendationj. Drywall repair can be messy and overwhelming. I'm glad I hired John, the consumate professional."

"Troy is a very experienced and competent drywall contractor. I have known Troy for many years and have used him on several projects around my property. He has not established a presence in Sacramento because he has lived in the Sierras for many years. He is now trying to establish himself in the Sacramento area, and I highly recommend his service especially for small to medium sized projects which he prefers."

Tony came and was very thorough and repaired the drywall; you would never know there was ever any water damage. He was very precise and made sure to put plastic up so it didn’t make a mess on the furniture and carpet. We will 100% use AGD Drywall in future! Thank you again AGD Drywall for the fast, responsive, reliable and top quality work!"

"Dave Hathcock of D H Drywall Pros is a consummate professional. We had Dave remove the popcorn from our hallway ceiling. He arrived on time, covered the area so there would be no dust from the popcorn in the rest of the house, did a beautiful job, cleaned up the area better than before he started work, and was very reasonably priced. Very impressed with his courtesy and work ethic. Can't say enough about this guy. If you need drywall repair and/or texturing Dave's the guy. His phone number is 916 470-4502"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

A post-drywall inspection could uncover many problems that weren’t present during the pre-drywall inspection, including insufficient insulation, missing weather stripping, improperly installed plumbing and lighting fixtures, flooring damage, drywall damage, plumbing leaks, aesthetic issues, and more. Structural problems, which are often expensive to fix and are common reasons to walk away after a home inspection, are easier to see before the drywall goes up, but a post-drywall inspection may highlight minor issues with house settling and foundation problems.

Deciding whether to repair or replace drywall can be tricky, but your top considerations should be the extent of the damage and what caused the damage. For instance, if you need to repair a small hole caused by a doorknob that hit the wall, you can safely patch it without a second thought. However, if you have significant drywall damage caused by water damage, it’s best to thoroughly remove the drywall to inspect and repair the pipes behind it before replacing it.

Plaster can be a difficult DIY to master, especially if you plan to plaster an entire room, rather than patch a small area. Before you begin a plaster DIY project, you need to know which tools and type of plaster to use. It's also important to know how to prepare the surface and apply the plaster for a smooth finish. If that all sounds like a lot of work, you may prefer hiring a local plaster repair contractor to do the job.

The two most common drywall thicknesses for ceilings are 1/2-inch and 5/8-inch. For most standard residential applications, 1/2-inch drywall is sufficient and widely used. It provides adequate support and is lighter and easier to handle during installation compared to thicker sheets. However, 5/8-inch drywall is often used for specific cases where additional benefits are needed. It is heavier but provides superior sound dampening and fire resistance. You should consider using 5/8-inch drywall for ceilings in commercial buildings, between a garage and a living space, or above a finished basement to meet building codes or for enhanced soundproofing.

Although they are used for similar tasks, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum and is primarily used for large-scale projects like taping and finishing seams on new drywall. Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it a thicker compound best suited for small wall repairs like filling nail holes or cracks, as it dries quickly and is easy to sand. For small repairs, either product can be suitable. However, you can use joint compound for small jobs in place of spackle, but you cannot use spackle for large-scale taping and mudding projects.
