"Mello Welding is terrific. I received a call back and a quick estimate. The work to cut out a rusty section of railing and weld a new section in place was professionally completed on time. I really appreciated how quickly they responded. Very satisfied."

"Luis is an absolute Rock Star. Phoned him about a broken wrought iron gate. He came over in an hour and a half and fixed it on the spot for a very reasonable price. The work involved, cutting, welding and was done beautifully. The gate is like new. HIGHLY recommend. Had called another company with five star reviews on Yelp -- twice and they never returned my call. Luis is your guy!"

"I went through three different quotes from different contractors, but what impressed me most about Kirkland construction is that they were honest about everything. Instead of just saying "yes, yes yes" they showed me how to best turn my ideas into reality. They did a fantastic job in creating the fireplace, making sure that it met my expectations - but I became more and more impressed with the way they handled the kitchen for the kind of budget I had. I didn't believe I could get such good looking cabinets, and such a great deal on the new appliances that I needed. Kirkland construction did everything they could to make my home really be improved!"

Welding questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can cut up a box spring., but you’ll need to do so in layers. You can clear the fabric and fluff away to reveal the springs before removing them as well.

Welders use a variety of methods in their trade. Different types of welding are better suited for different purposes and contexts. For example, stick welding is a versatile form suitable for most metals and alloys. The most common types of welding include:

  • Stick welding: $100–$1,000

  • Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding: $250 and up

  • Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding: $250 and up

  • Gas welding: $150 and up

  • Forge welding: $15–$25 per hour

Some welding projects, such as repairing pipes or fences, require travel, whereas others, like furniture repair, do not necessarily require the welder to come to you. Travel and overhead factor into the overall cost of your welding project. Some of the most common welding projects include:

  • Metal furniture repair: $35–$100

  • Pipe repair: $200–$1,000

  • Small gates: $550–$750

  • Fencing: $1,200–$1,800

  • Fabricated sheet metal welding: $750–$2,500

The best thing to cut metal pipe is a durable pipe cutter that is made for metal. You may want to measure the diameter of the pipes before purchasing a pipe cutter to ensure it will be able to cut your metal pipes. Opt for a heavy-duty option to cut through metal like steel or cast iron.

This all depends on the tools you have on hand and whether you’re trying to cut a straight line or shapes.

The best tool to use for straight lines is either a circular saw or table saw. When cutting shapes, a jigsaw will be the easiest and most precise tool to use.
