"Javier and his team did an excellent job on our yard. It was a challenging project requiring the removal of over 45 trees and bushes from an established yard including grinding and removing all the roots and then replacing it all with new landscaping including irrigation and lighting. His price estimate was very competitive. They started and finished on time. Definitely recommend them for all your landscaping needs."

"Excellent. Hector Leon was thorough in assessing irrigation problems and devising a plan to meet my needs. He offered various options for the layout, plants and rocks to be used. He & his crew were especially diligent in ensuring clean up each day and they were always available to answer any questions about the process. My yard is beautiful and I am extremely pleased with the outcome. The cost for this project was also very reasonable. I highly recommend this company for your landscape needs."

"Rob called me Saturday morning after I filled out my need on Home Advisor. He said he could be by around noon. He was right on time, we discussed the needed work, and he offered a very reasonable price. He also got the initial job done the same day. I asked him about some additional work; he completed that the following morning. He is friendly, thorough, and made sure I understood exactly how he did each piece. Hire this man, you will not be disappointed!"

"2 a.m., my sprinkler system goes on as scheduled.  I happened to be up working in my office at that time (I'm a nite owl).  I noticed that the system was continuing to run even after the alotted time.  I went out to try to figure out what was going on, and came to the conclusion that the solenoid valves were not working properly and there was no way to turn off the sprinklers, and that the yard was going to be flooded if I didnt turn the water off to the entire house, which I did.

1st thing in the morning, I called George at Valley Sprinkler's, explained the situation, and he came over to my house to perform the work within two hours.  I was extremely grateful as he had to juggle his appointments around to accomodate me.   He quickly analyzed the situation and did a temporary fix so I could at least turn the water back on to the house for the day.  We agreed on a price for the permanent fix and the next morning he returned, and changed out the solenoid valves.  He went an extra mile by checking on all my sprinkler heads to be sure everything was clean and working properly, which I had asked him to do.  No charge for that.  He did an excellent job, used quality parts, and I was very pleased.  George is courteaous, honest, dependable, and professional.  I'd hire him again in a hearbeat."

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

Yes, in most cases, grass will return after your dog urinates on it. But without preventative measures, there’s always a chance your dog will pee on the grass again, leading to brown patches come summer. This aside, even if your grass is dead in patches, simply reseeding the dead spots should help restore your lawn.

If you choose not to reseed your lawn, unaffected grass surrounding the dead patches will spread over any dead spots. But be prepared for this option to take longer—you likely won’t be able to grow grass fast.

This depends on the type of grass seed, as some types do better in different environmental conditions. Cool-season grasses go dormant during the summer months when the soil temperature exceeds 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Once exposed to regular doses of heat, the germination rates decline, with seedling death not far behind.

As for warm-season seeds, they come from tropical parts of the world and thrive in heat. They actively grow in warm air temperatures between 70 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and they prefer soil temperatures between 65 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Once temperatures dip and frost rolls in, if you don’t store them properly, warm-season grass seeds will die quickly.

There are several best practices you can do to keep your lawn looking healthy. Knowing when to water grass is among the most important. Having your sprinkler timer set to early morning is best because it gives your grass and plants enough time to absorb water before the sun and wind can evaporate it. To maximize a sprinkler’s impact, aerate your lawn once or twice per year. Doing this achieves better absorption and stronger root systems for your grass.

Adding seed to existing grass is often known as overseeding, as opposed to reseeding. Reseeding refers to the process of filling in bare or dying patches of lawn—or in some cases, full lawns—whereas reseeding supports existing lawns to prevent thinning. Overseeding is an ideal annual lawn care practice for grass fighting drought, disease, weeds, or pest issues.

The best grass type for shady areas depends on your region, your preferences, and your yard’s microclimate. Overall, the best cool-season grass for shade is ryegrass or tall fescue, while the best warm-season grass for shade is St. Augustine. But again, this can depend on what you’re looking for in the grass. The best grass for your shady yard might be one that looks good to you, one that tolerates high foot traffic, or grass with other characteristics that make it fit your lawn needs.
