"They provided excellent service and was very professional and quick. I am so pleased with the outcome. My yard is beautiful. All the neighbors are envious. They came back with a quote that be out all the other landscapers and were very nice to work with. Five stars across the board."

"Great experience from day one. What started as a new patio turned in to the backyard of our dreams !! Jimmy is super easy to work with & has a great crew. We trusted them all & couldn't have asked for a harder working crew. The more we got to know jimmy the more we were comfortable adding more to our budget. He really has a great vision in explaining what he can do & turning our ideas into reality. We had no intention of spending this much initially, now we feel our backyard is worth more than we could have ever imagined !! The WOW factor from before & after is truly amazing !! To top it all off we're using jimmys brother Rick of pacific construction services to finish it all off with a patio cover, 12ft by 24ft pool room ( which jimmy also poured & I didn't list above) and a built in BBQ. Valley Concrete gets my highest recommendation for just a super job.

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Instead of a set number of types, asphalt comes in variations designed for different needs. Some are categorized by temperature—hot mix, warm mix, and cold mix. Others are sorted by composition, like dense-graded, gap-graded (such as Stone Matrix Asphalt), porous, and mastic asphalt. There are also modified versions with added compounds like polymers, rubber, or emulsions. Instead of focusing on a number, it may be more useful to understand how contractors customize asphalt for durability, climate, and traffic conditions.

The decision to repair or replace your driveway depends on the extent of the damage. If your driveway has a few small cracks, a simple repair will do the trick. If you see larger cracks and potholes, it may be time to consider resurfacing or replacement. Resurfacing is a great option if more than 25% of the surface is damaged, but if the damage is extensive—deep cracks or significant sinking—it’s best to replace the driveway entirely. A new driveway, with proper care, can last decades while patching or resurfacing might only hold up for a few years before needing more attention.

Costs range from $3 to $7 per square foot, depending on the area size and project scope.

A solid driveway starts with the right asphalt mix, and for most homes, dense-graded hot mix asphalt (HMA) is the most recommended. It’s both durable and flexible, making it a reliable choice for residential use. A properly compacted 2-3 inch layer on a well-prepared crushed stone base will hold up for years. In areas with harsh winters or scorching summers, a slightly modified mix can help prevent cracking and rutting. No matter the climate, quality installation is just as important as the material itself, so hiring an experienced contractor ensures a smooth, long-lasting driveway built to last.

Like all driveway materials, asphalt can crack in the wrong conditions and with age. Many things can cause asphalt to crack, including shifting soil or settling under the foundation. Other common causes are driving oversized vehicles on the asphalt, tree roots, and using rock salt during the snowy season. Proper installation and sealing the driveway every 10 years can help prevent cracks.
