"I e mailed her, told her what I wanted, sent her a picture of my chair, she gave me an estimate based on my picture. We set a time.
She arrived on time, we set her up on a table in my shop and brought the seat, back cushion and footstool to her. I had disassembled the seat to remove from chair and the pad from the foot stool.
She explained the process, explained the range of potential results based on the nature of leather and dyes. I received a written estimate and a generous Angies discount, with a disclaimer about dye variations. All very clearly explained.
She proceed to work and worked diligently for 5 hours, she explained every step patiently and was very professional and particular about the work. She custom mixed the dye color to my wishes and spent a long time applying it
She is a very accommodating, very nice and very professional woman and proud of her craft.
I am very pleased with the results and have already recommended her to friends, one who told me he used Leatherman 5 years ago and is still happy with the results.
The aroma of the dye dissipates in 2-3 days

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

Paying to reupholster a piece of furniture means you want to hire the right upholstery service, especially for a piece that’s expensive or carries a lot of sentimental value. In your search for the right upholstery company, be sure to:

  • Ask around to see if friends or family know of any upholsterers

  • Find reviews of the company or individual

  • Look at the photo gallery of their work to see if they work on furniture like yours and if you like their work

  • Check qualifications and references

  • Ask the upholstery service if they work on furniture like yours, what their schedule looks like, how they handle payments, and how long the job will take

The time required to reupholster furniture depends on the item's size, complexity, and condition. The hands-on work can range from 2-3 hours for a simple dining chair to 10 to 20 hours for a large sofa. The total project timeline with a professional, including fabric sourcing and scheduling, typically ranges from one to three weeks.

Several factors can affect the timeline. Antique furniture often takes longer due to the delicate care required. If additional repairs are needed, such as sanding or refinishing wood components, the process will also take more time. A DIY reupholstery project will usually take significantly longer than a professional job.

You can make your dining room look more expensive using one or more of several methods. If you're remodeling, you can consider raising the ceiling height, installing an elegant chandelier, or redoing the floor. For smaller renovations, consider changing the paint color to a deep and rich tone, such as burgundy or emerald. You can also swap out the table and chairs to achieve a richer appearance.

Regular vacuuming, spot cleaning, and protecting surfaces from sun exposure prevents wear and fading, preserving longevity.

If your couch is damaged, you are not out of options. You might try fixing it on your own, bring in a furniture repair specialist, or opt to get rid of it responsibly. Depending on its condition, you could donate, sell, recycle, or drop it off at a local scrap facility.
