MARK LUHR'S CUSTOM UPHOLSTERY

RIPPED OFF!! Decided to change the interior of my SSR from black to red. Spent 3 weeks dismantling and painting interior parts. Time for upholstery. I need 2 seats, 2 door panels, shifter boot and center console arm rest upholstered in red. Got 4 quotes, the highest was $2100.00. Someone suggested Mark Luhrs custom upholstery. Took the SSR to him for a quote, his price $2807.35. After some serious thought I decided to let him do the job. Contacted Mark for the job and let him know his quote was $700.00 higher than the highest quote I got. Also I’m going to remove the door panels, shifter boot and the arm rest so the new paint won’t get scratched. He said bring it in Tuesday 11-3-2020 we’ll need it for about a week. Took it to him and we went over everything seat design, door panel design, solid material on the armrest instead of the perforated. Stayed in touch by phone a couple of times. I went to his shop twice to check on the progress. Thursday 11-12-2020 Mark called and said he was done. Showed up and the truck was outside, opened the driver side huge scratch on the door sill trim. Went to the passenger side, no door sill trim? Apparently they broke off one of the plastic tabs and tried to glue it back on and threw it in the bed for me to re-install the metal clip and the screw are missing? The shifter boot was sitting unfinished on the floor. Went inside to settle up on the bill SURPRISE the $2807.35 quote is now $3021.10! I said ***? He said he charged me 1 hour labor plus material for the shifter boot and 1 hour labor plus material for the arm rest. He said we never discussed them I said BS. I have already gotten 4 quotes, surely wouldn’t leave anything out. I reluctantly paid the extra $213.75 and left.got home went to put the shifter boot on, looks like they just sewed 4 pieces of material together, there were no holes for the screw retainers that hold it on and it wasn’t cut to fit. I had to get a leather punch for the 6 holes and then cut it to fit. The boot I paid TWICE for, I had to do part of the work myself to make it fit. The top part they sewed doesn’t fit worth a s&#@. The quality of the rest of the work is fair (still a few things I’m not happy with). Definitely not worth $921.00 more than the highest quote. For that kind of money this should be show quality. One thing I hate is getting a quote for a service and when you get there the final price is more than the quote, so if you’re looking for upholstery work do you’re homework and make sure your final bill is the same as your quote. MADE A COVER THAT MATCHED THE COLOR OF OUR BOAT. MADE US SPECIAL STRAPS TO KEEP THE COVER ON. THE COVER WAS DONE IN ABOUT 1 WEEK. MATCHED THE COLOR VERY WELL WITH THE PREVIOUS COLOR. HAD MY SEATS FINISHED IN 2 DAYS.

I HAD SHOPPED AROUND FOR A COUPLE MONTHS LOOKING FOR THE MOST BANG FOR MY $$$. MARK SHOWED ME PICTURES / SAMPLES OF HIS WORK, WHICH WAS OUTSTANDING. HE POINTED ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION FOR COLOR COORDINATION. I AM VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE QUALITY OF WORK HE PROVIDED. HIS PRICING WAS ABOUT THE AVERAGE COST, BUT HE PRESENTED HIMSELF VERY WELL, HE SOLD HIMSELF!!!
