"We hired McCormick for a bathroom remodel, and the whole process was smooth and professional. Khaled helped us make smart choices on design and materials that worked for both our budget and style. "The crew was on time and cordial. The drywall was adequate. The painting was well done, especially cut-ins/transition from ceiling color to wall color, which we can never get right doing it ourselves. If we had any criticism it would be that clean-up was a bit lacking. To be fair, we did have a walk through at the end but there are things you donâ  t see in that moment. There was some paint residue on the wood door frame and door hinges that we didnâ  t see at the time. Clean up was a bit weak. All in all, we would hire them again. I give them an A-"

Small jobs welcome

"First the price was amazing for pet odor and stain treatment. My home smelled like eucalyptus after instead of wet dog. He was willing to do the extra thoughtful things that other companies wouldnâ t. He cleaned in all the tight areas that the prior company did not want to, he brought us shoe coverings so we can walk on the carpet right after, and did a walk around with us after."

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

Reupholstering an old or antique chair can be worthwhile if the frame is still sturdy and the piece has sentimental or monetary value. Reupholstery often costs less than buying a high-quality new chair, and you can customize the look. However, extensive repairs or rare fabrics may increase the total cost.

The best way to test the quality of a leather couch is to put your hands on it. If the upholstery is soft and warm, that’s a good indication that the quality is higher. It should also smell like traditional leather. If it smells like chemicals, you’re probably dealing with low-grade leather.

It is often worthwhile to refinish or restore furniture, especially for high-quality, older, antique, or sentimental pieces. Older furniture tends to have better durability than modern, mass-produced items, and refinishing can cost about one-third of the price of replacement. To determine if it's cost-effective, compare quotes from local refinishing services with the price of a new, similar piece. Refinishing can refresh a piece's look and extend its lifespan. However, it may not be worth it for newer furniture made of medium-density fiberboard (MDF) or plywood, or for items with major structural damage. A professional can help you assess the piece and decide on the best course of action.

The process usually takes 1-2 weeks, and it is highly influenced by the materials, complexity of the project, and any customization desired.

Regular vacuuming, spot cleaning, and protecting surfaces from sun exposure prevents wear and fading, preserving longevity.
