"PBH did several house projects for me, including installing gutters and fancy fascia under my roof eaves. The work was perfect and all the workmen were polite, neat and clearly dedicated to making a perfect finished product. When they left, they cleaned up my entire yard. I would definitely rehire this company!"

"

From the moment we walked in their store, the salesperson remembered us from last year.  He showed us carpet samples and advised us on choice of pad.  Heibat came out to measure and gave us the estimate promptly.  Their estimate was considerably lower in price than another company for the exact same product--Mohawk carpet, upgraded pad and baseboards.  The installers arrived on time, were courteous, and did a wonderful job.  We love our new carpet and baseboards.

California Flooring and Design is the company I would recommend to anyone needing new flooring in the San Diego area.

They are knowledgeable, have great products, and their sales and installation teams are professional, competent, and thorough.

"Bianco was the most professional, responsive, and punctual contractor I've ever dealt with. Within an hour of sending an inquiry email, he called to talk about the project. He was in my kitchen just a few hours later to take measurements and give an estimate. He was very patient with me, answering all my questions and explaining his process step by step. The extra detail he provided gave me the confidence that he and his team would do a good job.
Another bonus is that he passed his contractor pricing on to us - we shopped for and bought the slabs and tiles, then paid much less than retail for the items. He then arranged for everything once the purchase was complete.
His workers were thorough and punctual - I was never waiting - again, a first with a contractor for me. They made sure I was satisfied with the job through each step before leaving and did a pretty good job cleaning up after themselves. (I have young twins, so I went over the kitchen with a fine toothed comb to make sure nothing ended up in their mouths - I did find a few pieces here and there)
All in all I was thrilled with the outcome and would not hesitate to recommend Bianco and San Diego Rocktops to anyone.

"Miguel and his crew did a good job and their price was WELL below other licensed contractor estimates (Miguel is licensed by the Contractors State License Board...with no complaint activity... is bonded and, according to the CSLB, has workers' comp for his employees...he also has an A+ rating with the BBB). Communication was a little hit-and-miss (particularly by email), but if it was important he always got back to me quickly (since I suspect that he's in the field quite a bit, texting and phone calls work best). He stuck to the anticipated install schedule and completed the demo and install in the same day (as promised). I had some minor issues that I had him come back for and he and his crew were very quick in returning to take a look (the issue ended up being with the granite itself and nothing that they had done)."

"Went great. Very punctual. Perhaps could have been a little more thorough in their cleaning, as they sealed over some grout that was left on some tiles by the tile installers. Other than that, all was done well. Worked quickly and professionally."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

The difference between floor and wall tiles is that floor tiles generally have higher strength and porosity ratings than wall tiles. Wall tiles are typically weaker and more likely to crack or become damaged under sustained pressure like high foot traffic.

For this reason, avoid using wall tiles on floors and vice versa.

You can, in theory, tile your fireplace hearth with most tiles. However just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. For example, it’s much better to use unglazed tiles because glazed tiles are more resistant to cracking under extreme heat. Porcelain is more heat-resistant than ceramic, but you can still design the hearth as you like by putting the most heat-resistant tiles directly under the fire and, if it matches your style, add more decorative tiles further from the center of the fire.

DIY is possible for small projects. Professional services ensure precision and long-lasting results.

When choosing tiles for a shower floor, avoid highly porous tile materials, like those with a water absorption rating over 7%. Don’t use non-vitreous tiles, or tiles fired at low temperatures, because they will absorb more water. If you use a highly porous tile in the shower, the tiles can wear down faster, meaning they’ll need to be replaced much sooner.

To ensure an even and unbending surface to lay tiles on, you’ll typically need to put a subfloor under a tile floor. Fiber cement backboards are the most common choice, but using plywood is also possible. Don’t neglect this step, or you could risk water damage and grout or tiles prematurely cracking or crumbling, especially in an area with high foot traffic.
