"Perfect World Painting did a great job on painting the entire interior of our home. Izzy and his crew were easy to work with, transparent about the process, clear and up front about the cost and focused on our satisfaction. They did wonderful work at a fair price and kept everything easy. Thanks guys!!"

"Husky Pro Painting did an outstanding job painting my house and 3 adjacent out buildings. Siding and trim board repairs were made at various locations. The work was done as promised wih two coats of paint as well as detail to quality of workmanship. I would highly recommend Husky Pro Painting for your painting project."

"I found TLS Painting on Angies List. I was immediately impressed with Tyler when he came out to give me an estimate. I needed painting done, but also repair of damage done due to extreme sun exposure. Tyler pointed out areas that needed repair and was knowledgeable in those areas as well. I was really pleased with everything that he did, and felt that his bid was very fair. I would not hesitate to recommend Tyler and TLS Painting and would definitely use them again in the future!"

"Art is very in tune with detail. Went into detail about cracks and how he would fill them so they wouldn't show up afterwards. Very knowledgeable. Was very clean with tarps doing the whole house."

Small jobs welcome

"Chet was conscientious and took great effort to make sure we were happy with our color choice. He painted several surfaces with the various colors & only when we were certain did he proceed. He cleaned all the surfaces that were to be painted and did an excellent job keeping the paint off of surfaces that were not being painted. He left our property clean and we were very happy with the results. I would use him again and would recommend him for any painting needs."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

Yes, vinegar can remove polyurethane from wood, but it is a slow, inefficient, and inconsistent restoration method. Whatever your intention, it’s best to avoid using vinegar on wood with a polyurethane finish—though it can be an effective cleaner for other wood finishes.

Professionals use safe, efficient methods that protect surfaces and prepare for new finishes.

Using a wire brush, forcefully scrub the surface to remove paint from metal. You’ll want to remove any lingering rust, too. For larger areas with caked-on rust, you may need to use a wire brush drill attachment. If the paint still won’t budge, apply a chemical paint stripper to the area and scrape off the paint, after following the paint stripper’s instructions.

If the lead paint is in a place that is not easily disturbed and is not flaking or deteriorating, you do not necessarily need to remove it. Lead is toxic when dust particles or flakes from peeling lead paint are ingested. If people are not in the area with the lead paint, it may be safe to leave it in place. You still may want to consider encapsulation with a paint formulated for covering lead-based paint, just for an added layer of protection.

Professional painters often use a Turpentine-based solution to remove paint, since it can remove oil-based paint as well as acrylics and varnishes. It’s also an organic material derived from tree resin, so it’s less toxic than traditional paint strippers. Consult a professional cabinet refinisher or painter about the best materials to use for paint stripping.
