"Our bathroom was outdated and cramped, so we decided to remodel with Ocean Seven Builders. Ron was involved throughout the process and made sure we understood each step. What stood out most was how organized everything felt once the work began. The team was respectful of our home and finished the project close to the expected timeline. The final result looks modern and much more functional!"

"It was fine. There was an additional charge but I'm not surprised because I had a dryer vent that is very complicated. We negotiated and told me what they will going to take to do it. I was fine with it because I know my dryer vent. For me, to call somebody and do that specifically, it would have been more money. I feel good about it."

Decks and Porches questions, answered by experts

Generally, wood rot and dry rot are not covered by standard homeowners insurance policies because they are considered gradual, preventable damage resulting from poor maintenance or long-term moisture exposure. However, there can be exceptions. If the rot is the direct result of a sudden and accidental event that is covered by your policy, such as a burst pipe, storm, or flood, your insurance may cover at least a portion of the repairs. Coverage typically applies to the initial water damage, but the resulting rot may not always be included. Any fungal growth or rot that develops over a longer period, even after a covered incident, is unlikely to be covered. It is crucial to review your specific policy or consult your insurance provider to understand your coverage. If you live in an area prone to flooding, consider purchasing a separate flood insurance policy. Even if the repairs are an out-of-pocket expense, addressing rot promptly is essential to avoid further structural damage to your home.

Professionals enhance safety by addressing structural issues, securing loose components, and using non-toxic materials. They ensure compliance with building codes and conduct thorough inspections to identify potential hazards. Their expertise minimizes risks, making the home safer during and after repairs.

Your deck may pop, and your neighbor’s deck may not for a number of reasons. Whether or not a deck pops will depend on how it was made, the conditions it’s exposed to, and the materials. Improper spacing is a common reason for increased pressure between deck boards. Moisture penetration is another.

No, it isn’t necessary to skirt a deck, but investing in the cost to install deck skirting can bring more value to your home. Not only does deck skirting make the deck look more complete, but it can also turn otherwise unused space beneath the deck into useful storage space.

Yes, some rotting porch posts can be repaired rather than replaced. The decision to repair or replace a post depends on the severity of the rot; the same is true when deciding what type of repair to do, if you go that route. Repairing a porch post is usually cheaper than replacing it, but if the majority of the post is rotted, you should opt for replacement.
