"I contacted 3 contractors for bids. Jeff Pacini's Tile Works was not the low bidder but was the most experienced and knowledgeable by far. After a follow-up phone call Jeff agreed to match the low bid. He has 6 tile repair specialists who work exclusively for him and he sent Joe to do my repair. Grout and caulk are commonly used together, especially in bathrooms. Grout goes between the tiles and keeps them sturdy and in place on the walls or floor. Caulk goes in corners or where two different materials meet (like where the bathtub meets the tile) to create a waterproof seal. However, they are not interchangeable—you shouldn't use caulk to adhere tile and shouldn’t use mortar if you need a waterproof seal.

Glazed ceramic tiles don’t need to be sealed because the glazing already offers some protection against moisture.
