"Gus and John were the technicians who came out, and I was super impressed with their work. They kept everything really clean, and honestly, watching them replace the rollers under the door was amazing they're so skilled! The door operates so smoothly now, it was definitely well worth the price"

"They did a beautiful and fabulous job. They tore down my concrete back porch and stairs and rebuilt wooden porch and stairs from the ground up. They always came on time. Came faithfully everyday until the job was done. Cleaned up and hauled all debris away. It looks like a work of art. I would definitely hire for future projects. "We had been looking for months now on who we should hire to build our custom dream home out in the countryside but had no luck until a friend suggested his contractor called Bayside Builders. We hired them and they came out to start giving us some ideas on what we want done with our home. It was clear that this company has been doing this for quite some time because they were professional and knew how to get things done correctly. We're glad that things went according to plan because it feels great knowing that you can trust your contractor and that they know what they are doing."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Most window screens last for about 10 to 12 years, assuming they are made from quality materials and receive proper care. The lifespan of common materials like fiberglass and aluminum can vary based on weather exposure, as constant sun or harsh winters can accelerate wear and tear. Regular cleaning and basic maintenance can help extend their life. Signs that a screen needs to be replaced include rips, tears, brittle or sagging material, fading, or a bent frame. While small tears can often be repaired, larger areas of damage typically mean it's time to replace the entire screen.

The best type of window screen for your home depends on your region and your family’s needs. While fiberglass window screens are a popular, affordable, and easy-to-find choice, you may be looking for different benefits, such as a more high-end look, increased strength, or extended durability. The best window screen meets the demands of your home and its residents while staying within your budget.

Yes, professionals can enhance screen durability by using robust materials like stainless steel or fiberglass and employing advanced installation techniques. They provide reinforcement and repair services that extend the screens' lifespan while maintaining functionality and appearance.

The screen material you choose depends on your needs. Here are some differences to consider:

  • Fiberglass is the least expensive but needs replacing more often.

  • Aluminum suits almost any job and doesn’t stretch as easily as fiberglass.

  • Pet-resistant screens are more expensive than fiberglass or aluminum, but they’re also wind and weather-resistant.

  • Metal screens, like stainless steel, are the most expensive material for rescreening your porch or sunroom. However, they last for years and are golf ball-resistant.

The cost of a window repair varies significantly depending on which part is damaged. Here is a breakdown of common repairs and their estimated costs:

  • Broken seal or fogginess between panes: $70–$245

  • Cracked pane: $40–$100

  • Broken glass: $200–$2,000

  • Sash, seal, or track repair: $200–$600

  • Latch or hardware issues: $75–$200

  • Broken window frame: $175–$1,000

  • Window screen replacement: $140–$480
