"John and the staff at Alden's Carpet and Drapes are absolutely the best.  They're friendly, knowledgeable and work to your schedule.   We installed new carpet in two large master bedrooms, a hallway, landing and stairs.  The installation crew arrived at 7:30 AM, moved all the furniture, including an upright piano, had the old carpet and padding removed and new padding and carpet installed and the furniture back in place before 11:00 AM.  These guys are the greatest."

"I was treated wonderful at Alpine Carpet One although it was not a huge purchase. They were wonderful, they were great. I had used them many years ago to do hard wood floors. Two of the nicest people came to install it because they have very good people. They are a very large company so if somebody wants to see a large selection, as opposed to going to a very small  store, you would really see a large variety here. They have since gotten together with another company which is a decorating company and it has a very fine reputation in the city too. They merged with a company which does upholstery and furniture and windows and things like those. Their customer service is very good. The prices depend on what you buy."

"Excellent job from start to finish. From the initial visit at Larry's store to look at samples of carpet and padding to color matching at our home, the process was smooth and efficient. Larry's installers are top notch and took great care with the moving of our furniture and the care of our home while the installation took place. Larry also worked very well with our insurance company with payments and reimbursements to ease the stress of the entire situation."

"First, I have to say that the work that was performed was absolutely phenomenal and also finished on a punctual time. They made my "dream ideas" truly come to life. GoodFellas made the process so enjoyable with a team that had the utmost respect for me and my home. If I could do it all over again I wouldn't have changed a thing. If you are looking for a quality trustworthy team I would definitely hire the GoodFellas team. Also, they have amazing customer service. The ladies in the office continuously follow up with me and follow through with there word. I always felt like I had contact with someone throughout this whole process. I couldn't be happier with the choice I made by hiring them. Such a relief to find someone who performs exactly what there word is!! Thank you GoodFellas!!!"

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

Vomit contains organic fluids along with whatever else comes out with it. When left without cleaning, vomit, and its odor can reach deep into carpet fibers and become very difficult to remove without a deep cleaning. In some cases, the combination can cause permanent carpet staining.

Carpet tiles are less expensive than traditional carpet. The average cost of carpet installation is $1,800, or $3 to $11 per square foot. In comparison, carpet tiles cost $2.50 to $11 apiece and can often be bought in bulk cartons. Since you can more easily DIY carpet tiles, you may be able to save on installation costs, too.

Yes, you can revive carpet that’s flattened using household items like an ice cube and stiff brush, a damp cloth and an iron, baking soda and vinegar, and shaving cream. If you want to go all-out, visit a local home improvement store and buy a carpet rake, too. Depending on the state of your carpet, you may need to use more than one of these methods to see results. Keep in mind that you might need to repeat a reviving method more than once.

Your room doesn’t need to be completely empty to restretch a carpet, but you’ll need enough space that you can move around furniture to access the wrinkled areas and the wall where you’re reattaching the carpet. A contractor will move your furniture out of the way before they start the job, but you can save money by moving your furniture before they arrive.

Patching your carpet in damaged areas or using an industry-grade cleaner on urine spots can help remove stains and scents from your carpet. If odors linger, leave baking soda on the area overnight (dry), then vacuum it up in the morning.
