"We are not done with the work yet, but Derek showed up as promised, gave us a competitive bid and shared substantial expertise even before we have been able to move ahead with the install itself. Helped us get materials ordered at a discount too. Project delayed due to external circumstances (Covid) but hope to resume work soon."

"Maldonado Tile and Stone just completed a master bath remodel and they did an excellent job. Victor Maldonado came to my home after I spoke with him, and he was very patient as I asked many questions. I already had been impressed with his web site, and the many photos of his companys work. He and his crew always arrived on time, cleaned up at the end of each day, and finished the project on time (actually one day earlier) and at cost. Most important, the quality of the work of he and his crew is excellent. And, he even was flexible to make some additional changes I thought might look better after he finished all the time installation for the initial price."

Marble and Granite questions, answered by experts

Acid can seriously damage granite countertops and lead to etching and erosion. This is why cleaning with vinegar isn’t recommended. Other acidic items that you should keep away from your granite countertops include:

  • Citrus

  • Acetone nail polish remover

  • Tomatoes

  • Ammonia

In addition, always steer clear of using bleach on or around your granite as it will degrade the countertop’s sealant quickly.

Sintered stone and quartz are both low-maintenance materials resistant to water damage and scratching. However, quartz can be damaged by temperatures over 150°F, while sintered stone is heat-resistant up to 300°F. Both materials are comparable in cost, so ultimately, the decision will hinge on your preferences.

Silestone® is a low-maintenance countertop material, but certain things, like strong chemicals and solvents, can cause damage. Abrasive scrubs can cause scratches, and products that contain oil or powder can leave a residue. Finally, avoid letting oven cleaner come into contact with Silestone® because it can cause discoloration.

Yes, limestone often turns yellow over time when improperly cared for. The stone contains natural iron deposits, which can oxidize when exposed to water, acids, or harsh chemicals, such as bleach. Without exposure to water or chemicals, limestone should not turn yellow. Always seal limestone countertops to protect them from moisture, and only use gentle cleansers designed for stone.

Professionals use resin fillers, diamond polishing pads, and sealants to restore the surface.
