"A very knowledgeable and courteous young man arrived. He was able to diagnose the issue at no cost. Unfortunately, it was not a plumbing issue; he could do anything for us. But I will call them next time there is a need."

"Andrey did an excellent job installing three shower hand rails. He was confronted with some “structural “ challenges but persevered, even going to the store and buying the parts needed to complete the job. We appreciated his attention to providing a secure structure upon which we can depend to prevent falls and enhance our feelings of safety."

Customers say: Quick response

"My former handyman moved out of my area and it came time I needed to find one Of same service or better. I prayed and the Lord gave me Mike and Monica. This husband and wife team gave me fixed my sink drainage problem that others in the past only did temporary fixing. I was impressed by Mike's expertise you would get from more expensive professionals. M&M is a blessing to me."

"Where to begin!! I have been in home with no water, no bathroom or working kitchen for over 3 months...which means friends shower, weekly trips to the laundramat, etc. I had another plumbing company here to camera the line, and gave me a very expensive estimate for work to be done. None of that work included fixing the original problem of a plugged sewer line. Finally I had the presense of mind to call GILMORE!! Yesterday I had 2 very knowledgeable employees come out go through they entire problem and solution and given an estimate that was fair and doable. Today Johnny came out and did the work from start to finish in a fantastic timely manner. The payment for the exceptional work was exactly what I was quoted and I was given an estimate for fixing other possible sewer problems moving forward (neighbors tree roots invading my sewer line. Will only call GILMORE in the future for any and all heating, air, and plumbing problems I may have as a home owner. Johnny was personable exceptionally knowledgeable, efficient and cleaned up as if no one had entered my home. Above and beyond he allowed me to turn on the water main which has not been on in over 3 months, let me run the showers and the wash machine and showed me on camera the clear flowing water!!! So HAPPY. Showers for me in my home, clean laundry daily and I can now move forward with the rest of my home reconstruction projects that occured from the original water damage. Again highly recommend GILMORE and ever so grateful for good, honest, hard working people in our community."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Completing a full standard bathroom remodel offers the best value, with an average return on investment (ROI) of 70%. However, you don't need a full remodel to make an impact. To maximize value, focus on key components like flooring, the tub and shower, vanity, and cabinets. High-value upgrades include installing a walk-in shower, resurfacing a tub, retiling, or expanding the shower. For more budget-friendly options that still increase value, consider repainting with a light, neutral color, or updating the mirror and light fixtures. It's also crucial to address any necessary repairs, such as leaks, mold, or cracked tiles, as buyers will notice these issues. Avoid flashy upgrades like bathtub jets or steam showers, which don't add as much value.

Yes, frozen pipes can prevent a toilet from working correctly. If the pipes are frozen, water cannot flow, which means your toilet tank won't be able to refill after a flush. This will prevent the toilet from flushing again. Depending on which lines are frozen, the ice can also block the drain pipe, preventing water from flushing away.

As a temporary workaround, you can manually add water to the tank for each flush. To clear a frozen drain pipe, you can try filling the toilet bowl or tank with warm water and flushing to help thaw the ice. However, the best long-term solution is to unfreeze the pipes to get your toilet back in working order.

A bit of water in the bowl can help unclog a toilet, especially if you're using a plunger. However, if the bowl is full to the brim, you'll need to strap on gloves and remove some of the wastewater in a cup or container so it doesn't overflow when you try to unblock the pipe. If you're concerned about it filling further, manually close the flapper in the toilet tank or turn off the water supply to the toilet.

To test for toilet leaks, use water coloring in the water tank and see if the water slips into the bowl from the tank. This test will indicate if there’s a problem with the flapper or refill tube. You can also put water coloring in the bowl of the toilet to see if there is a leak there. If there is, you should see the colored water on the outside of the toilet bowl or on the floor.

Yes, frozen pipes can cause a toilet to stop working correctly. If the pipes are frozen, water cannot flow, which can lead to two main problems. First, the supply line to the toilet tank may be frozen, which prevents the tank from refilling with water after you flush. Second, the drain pipe itself can freeze, blocking water from flushing away. As a temporary solution for a non-refilling tank, you can manually add water, but this is not a long-term fix. To clear a frozen drain pipe, you can try pouring warm water into the toilet bowl or tank and then flushing, as the warm water may help thaw the ice blockage. Ultimately, the best course of action is to unfreeze the affected pipes to restore your toilet to full functionality.
