"I just had back surgery and needed to decorate for Christmas. I thought where would I look for helpers. I emailed HomeAdvisor with a recommendation For All Clutter Be Gone. I got a call from Tina the same morning and set up an appointment. She came with Amy and Alieen to help. We (they) decorated two trees, garland, nativities and more. I had so much fun it was like decorating with family. It took two days and the house looks so festive."

"Room Service contacted me quickly and we scheduled an appointment right away. I worked side-by-side with one of their organizers to organize my 3 car garage. We got it done and the garage looks fabulous. Room Service was very professional, communicated well and helped me to get the job done. I will definitely use again."

"I couldn’t be happier with the service! I have a white rug that had accumulated a lot of dirt and stains over time, and I honestly wasn’t sure it could be restored. He did an incredible job and made it look almost brand new again. The difference was amazing. Not only was the quality of his work outstanding, but his pricing was also very fair and reasonable. He was professional, responsive, and incredibly accommodating with my hectic work schedule, making the entire process easy and stress-free. It’s hard to find someone who provides both excellent customer service and high-quality work, but he definitely delivered on both. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for reliable, affordable, and top-notch rug cleaning services!"

House Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Having dust in your home doesn’t automatically make your house unhealthy, but it can contribute to allergies and other respiratory issues. Dust is a mix of tiny particles that include dirt, dead skin cells, dust mite body parts and droppings, animal dander, and pollen, so breathing in excessive amounts isn’t good for your health. Dust accumulation can also accumulate in fabrics, mattresses, and rugs, as well as harm electronic devices if it builds up inside the system.

The average house cleaner cost is around $180, which should cover about four hours of work. However, each project is different and costs can range from $100 to $1,000, depending on the house size and the cleaning needed. Other cost factors can include your location and what level of cleaning you want. Standard or basic cleaning may include vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting the kitchen and bathrooms. Deep cleaning costs about twice as much and often includes cleaning behind and underneath furniture, washing windows, and polishing hard-to-clean surfaces. Emergency cleaning, extreme cleaning, and holidays also impact pricing. Move-in and move-out cleaning typically cost more, too, because of the extensive, whole-house cleaning involved.

Yes, clean baseboards with a retractable flat broom or mop or a vacuum with a long brush attachment if you're trying to avoid bending over to reach your baseboards. You can also attach a cloth or a clean sponge dipped in a cleaning solution to the end of a broomstick to reach your baseboards without straining your back.

To neutralize mildew smell, you can use natural deodorizers like baking soda or activated charcoal. Baking soda absorbs odors; sprinkle it liberally on the affected area, let it sit for a few hours, then vacuum it up. Activated charcoal, available in pouches, works similarly. Vinegar, with its natural acidic properties, can also neutralize odors. Mix equal parts water and vinegar, spray the affected area lightly, then blot it with a dry cloth. Enzymatic cleaners are effective too, breaking down odor-causing compounds.

Before hiring a cleaning service for your home, it's wise to ask several questions. Find out what services they offer, whether they work alone or with a company, and if they can provide references. It's also important to ask if they conduct background checks on employees. Inquire about their scheduling, availability, and when they can provide an estimate. Confirm if they have insurance, offer a guarantee, and bring their own cleaning supplies and equipment. You should also clarify if you need to be home during the cleaning, what arrangements are necessary for pets, and if there is a written contract. Finally, ask how they set their rates and if they are available for emergencies and what those charges would be.
