Small jobs welcome

"Julio was great. He gave me a fair estimate that was built off of a price per sq ft (unlike other places that had a minimum rate). He was punctual and did an awesome jump power washing and staining our deck. It looks brand new! Julio even washed some of the surrounding wood area for no extra charge, he was super helpful. I would definitely recommend Julio and Next Gen Painting & Staining for any wood maintenance needs."

"I had an outdoor playground set. Adrian was professional and hard-working. Great communication and he brought all the required tools and equipment. He showed up first thing in the morning on a short notice and it was all done before the end of the day. The assembly looks great and I know the kids will love it!"

"I was told if the amount of work needed went over the deal price of 99.00, a bill would be left. When I arrived home, there was a bill for $90. I called and was told it was a mistake. This made me wonder if the cost of the job would have been less than the $99 I paid initially. Provider was responsive to calls, messages.

"The second day they came, I needed to get some additional paint. They got there about eight in the morning, they painted for two and a half hours then they went to lunch while I went to go out and get some paint and went back for forty-five minutes. They were finished around 2:30pm. I got about six hours’ worth, I didn't realized that my sons room needed patch up, after they left unfortunately I could have used some painting so I didn't get my full nine hours’ worth and that was really disappointing and that was my frustration there."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

You can build an outdoor kitchen on a deck, but you should choose composite decking since it's more heat-resistant. Metal deck materials like steel and aluminum are also good choices because they're less flammable than wood. You should also consider the weight of the kitchen—make sure your deck can support it and any appliances you plan to use. You should consult a structural engineer to confirm exactly how much weight your deck can safely support when building an outdoor kitchen.

Building a deck isn't too hard if you’re handy with carpentry, have the necessary tools, and are willing to put effort into it. However, other factors, such as plans, permits, and design, can be hard if you don’t have experience in those areas.

Note: You’ll need another person to help you build the deck (especially for framing and setting the beams). Building a deck yourself will be very difficult if you don’t have an extra set of hands to help.

The best and fastest way to remove paint from a deck often involves combining a chemical stripper with a pressure washer. Gel-based paint strippers are highly recommended because their thick consistency makes them less messy and easier to apply than liquid strippers. After applying the stripper to loosen the paint, you can use a pressure washer to efficiently wash away the residue. When using a pressure washer for this task, it's important to use a low pressure (under 1000 PSI) to avoid forcing too much moisture into the wood, which could lead to mildew or rot.

It is definitely worth sanding a deck to ensure the wood absorbs new stain. Sanding a deck removes the outer layers of aging wood, allowing the stain to penetrate. It also gives a fresh look to the entire surface as part of the deck refinishing process. Without sanding, your stain or sealant is less likely to absorb into the wood. While sanding a deck is a time-intensive project, the rewards are noticeable and long-lasting.

When installing deck boards, screws are generally a better option than nails. Screws offer superior holding strength over time, keeping the boards securely in place. In contrast, nails are more likely to pop out, which can create a tripping hazard. While you can use either, we recommend using 3-inch galvanized deck screws. To minimize the risk of cracking the wood, it's a good practice to drill small pilot holes before driving the screws into the deck joists.
