"He returned our phone call the same day, and showed up on time for the estimate. He was very punctual, and always on time. He cleaned up all his garbage, and left no mess. Now that I've got the front of my house painted, you would never know I had patchwork done."

"Guys did a great job as promised.  Took advantage of a $999 special; an additional $300 for extra exterior door painting.  Approximately $1000 in paint necessary but we chose top quality paint in lieu of having Better Choice select paint.  House was power washed and some trim replaced prior to painting.  Some delays due to the high temperatures we experienced that pushed out the job a couple of times.

"The owner (Frederick "Michael" Jones, an experienced painting contractor) was very straightforward and accommodating, checking on the job several times per day.  The painting crew (Guillermo, Oliver, and Wilmer, all from Guatemala in their 20's) was exceptionally diligent, considerate, neat, and equally accommodating.  The job began and ended on time.  Though I'm no expert, there are many reasons to believe that the quality of work was high.  As one example, our protruding nails were fixed in a 6-step process: (1) set the nail; (2) prime the nail and surrounding depression; (3) fill the depression with Bondo; (4) sand the Bondo; (5) prime the Bondo; (6) apply the final coat(s).  Our house looks like new; time will tell how long that look lasts."

"Great communication and great service. Chris showed up as scheduled to estimate, provided an accurate quote, and was able to schedule a worker to come in just four days later. The drywall finish work was excellent. But Chris earned our highest respect after the job was finished: Chris' drywaller used our utility sink as a water source for mixing plaster and for some clean up, and a few hours after the work was done we found that it would not drain correctly. Chris came over right away on a Saturday evening and snaked the drain, even snaked the other plumbing nearby to fix the problem. Made sure we were completely satisfied before calling the job complete. He also sent a Thank You card a few days later. Our job was pretty small compared to many remodel projects, but Chris treated us like we were his number one priority."

"We are so happy with his work!  The shower is wonderful, tiles look great, and he even put in detail in the shower!  We also chose a hexagon 1 inch tile for the floor and he did a great job lining them up and grouting them evenly.  He was professional, cleaned up every day, listened to what we wanted as well as offering suggestions, and got the job done on-time and on-budget.  We will definitely call Dragan for our next project!

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Depending on how much adhesive was used as well as the strength of the adhesive, you may have some drywall damage when removing a mirror. You can typically repair most drywall damage if it’s small by sanding the damaged area, applying spackle to smooth the damaged section so it’s flush with the rest of the wall, and repainting the area.

Look for flaking paint or air bubbles that burst and then flake away. Paint will begin to flake after being exposed to minimal moisture or water, so it’s a good indicator of any water damage. If you notice your paint starting to flake, feel the plaster underneath to see if it is soft or damp.

You can put certain types of plaster over other types, but doing so isn't always the best idea. For example, putting a coat of gypsum over lime plaster is possible, but doing so will limit the lime plaster's breathability and potentially affect its performance.

Since cement plaster tends to leave a textured surface, no matter how much you smooth it, some people prefer to use gypsum plaster as a topcoat over cement plaster, creating a smoother surface.

Like many other repair projects, the cost to fix a behind-the-wall shower leak depends on several factors. The cost of your repair may depend on the type of leak (from a clog or burst pipe), type of piping, and location of the leak. The extent of the issue and how difficult it is to access the pipes can greatly impact and increase your price. On average, you can expect to pay around $150 to $600 to repair a leaking shower.

Plastering and skimming are two different techniques for finishing walls. Plastering involves applying a thick layer of a plaster mixture—typically containing gypsum, lime, cement, sand, and water—to create a new surface. This process often requires multiple coats and is used for repairing significant damage or creating decorative textures. Skimming, on the other hand, is a technique that involves applying a thin layer of drywall compound or joint compound over an existing surface to smooth it out, covering minor imperfections, small cracks, or uneven textures for a polished look. Plastering is generally more costly and labor-intensive than skimming. Although some people use the terms interchangeably, they refer to different processes and materials.
