Small jobs welcome

"We appreciated the promptness and efficiency by Rodriguez Insulation. We had them install insulation on our garage doors. Our only disappointment was that they used 1 insulation instead of 2 . When I asked about it, they said that was standard here in California."

"Very smoothly. On time. Was a good price and people were easy to deal with. They cleaned up after they were done. Would definitely hire them again. Good job all around."

"American Attic was everything they promised. Met with the owner , Sam, within a day to get a quote for removal of old insulation, rodent control and install of new insulation. He was professional and explained everything in detail of what was work was going to be done and how long it would take. We scheduled within a week at a reasonable price. His crew were neat, organized and finished on time! We were notified of some extra things that were found while they were on the job but were not pressured to have those things done. We recommend American Attic to friends or family and would definitely use them again."

"I hired these guys after getting five bids. They were cheaper for the same amount of insulation and they did not try to sell me insulation I did not need"

"First and foremost if i could give Solorios Insulation Services 10 stars i would. The work completed was exceptional. Every step of the job from the beginning bid to the last part of the clean up was better than expected. The work was completed in the time they said it would be and (Jesus) was a stand up guy to have working in our home and paid attention to every detail that meant so much to us. I cannot say enough of how happy i'am with this company. We definitely will be calling them again in the near future i highly recommend them. Thank you!!"

"Finally an honest Solar company!! I went through several companies trying to get quotes for one of my properties, either they were ridiculously expensive or they didn't return my calls. A friend of mine referred me to Mega Sun and I have to say I am very pleased. Within a couple days from the initial phone call I already had an estimate and once i decided to go with them the installation was completed in one week. Its been a little over a month since they completed the install and everything is working smoothly.

I was amazed at just how great the customer service was. I just want to say thank you to the whole team who helped out, I really appreciate all your hard work. Now I know you guys are the ones to call for all future jobs."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can install insulation over ductwork, and doing so can save you money. Without insulation, the HVAC unit must work harder to force warm or cool air around the home, and once the air reaches the vent, it may not be the correct temperature. Insulating HVAC ducts makes your system work more efficiently, saving you money on heating and cooling bills.

While a few icicles on your roof are standard, a large accumulation can be a sign of a bigger problem, such as poor insulation. This is particularly true if you are also dealing with ice dams. If you have numerous large icicles, it is recommended to have a roofing contractor diagnose potential insulation issues and create a plan to solve them.

Buying a house with vermiculite insulation is not recommended without going through a proper testing process. Vermiculite insulation can potentially contain asbestos, which poses health risks when disturbed. While it is possible to purchase a home with vermiculite insulation, you should have it tested for asbestos, and ensure proper containment if asbestos is present. If asbestos is present, you will want to hire a professional to remove it, ideally before you move in.

You can purchase bags of cellulose and loose-fill fiberglass blown-in insulation from the same local home improvement store where you rent your blower. If you want to use rock wool insulation, you may need to special order it.

Closed-cell spray foam insulation itself serves as a vapor barrier (or vapor retarder). However, you may need to install a vapor barrier if you have open-cell spray foam insulation. When in doubt, work with a professional insulation contractor, as they can provide more detail about the specific needs of your home in your climate.
