"Joe Soto worked with me to get my job scheduled, as the dates for some other renovation work that needed to be done first kept moving. His crew got my painting work completed in a single day. I'm very pleased with the quality of the work and the customer service. I would definitely hire them again and recommend their work."

"Home2renovate began work immediately and showed up to work every day. The workers were skilled and diligent. The work professionally performed. They cut out sections of dry rot from the eves and other areas, repaired the damage, caulked and painted. They also repaired the patio, replacing two badly rotted beams including the main patio support beam. The did not drip or splash paint on brick walkways or patio and cleaned up every day before leaving. I would hire them again for any home maintenance or addition project."

"We hired Lazcano Painting Co. to paint the interior of our rental unit between tenants. They were so quick and efficient that we also had them repaint my parents’ townhome."

"This team did an incredible painting the exterior of my home and applying a stain to my expansive deck. It was a complete makeover. They did it fast, economically, and beautifully. They checked in afterwards and ensured it was finished to my liking. I would use them again and again."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

It’s a good idea to sand your porch before painting. This will remove loose or chipped paint and debris, and give you a cleaner surface so that your new paint goes on smoothly. But if the existing surface is in good condition, it’s not necessary to sand your porch before you paint.

It’s best to use an exterior latex acrylic paint to promote maximum adhesion to composite decking. This flexible paint type can better cope with the natural expansion and contraction that can occur with composite deck boards. Oil-based paints won’t adhere as effectively and are more likely to crack and peel as the boards flex. Testing whether your chosen paint will stick on an inconspicuous section or a spare board is a good idea.

Ipe wood can last up to 75 years with minimal maintenance because its own oils help to preserve it. However, to get the most out of your Ipe wood deck, you should perform some routine maintenance, including regular cleaning, sweeping of leaves and debris, and rinsing spills with a hose. It’s also important to repair any deep scratches as soon as you spot them and reseal the deck annually to protect against scratches and scuffs.

You don't need to seal your deck after painting it because most exterior paints are waterproof and weather-resistant. While stealing is not necessary, it can add an additional layer of protection.

It is not always necessary to remove old stain before restaining a deck. If the previous stain is in good condition and is compatible with the new stain, you may be able to apply a new coat after thorough cleaning. However, if the old stain is in bad condition, flaking, or peeling, it is best to remove it completely to ensure an even surface and proper adhesion for the new coat. Staining over a damaged layer can lead to an uneven finish and poor penetration. For best results, test a small area first and consult the stain manufacturer's guidelines.
