"I've used Apex Premier for both Stucco and Drywall work over the years on my house, big projects to small repairs and patches. The work is high quality, well organized, and well thought out. You will always get an honest answer from them. The communication is the best in the biz, the attention to detail is the best in the biz. I wish I could find this commitment to work from all contractors, but that is just not the case at all, quite refreshing."

"It took a couple of phone calls to get Ray to call us initially. When he first came to the house, he had his wife and a friend waiting in the car for him, so he could not stay long enough to take measurments; however, he did come back the next evening as promised. He told us that he would have an estimate to us by the next evening, but we did not receive it until 2 or 3 days later. Honestly, we were SHOCKED when he saw Ray's estimate. It was $6,500 higher than the highest bid and $10,000 higher than the lowest bid that we had already received! Obiviously, we did not choose Costello Plastering because his price was way too high."

"

The crew came out a few days before painting to pressure wash our house. They returned and started taping and preparing for paint. They completed all necessary small repairs to the house prior to paint. We gave them the paint colors and they went and bought the paint for us. They extended the deal they received on the paint to us. They completed all the work per agreement. They did a great job and they were very pleasant to work with. We had no troubles at all. They are very busy people so the communication wasn't always on time, but; when it came down to it they did what they said they would do and our house looks like a brand new house! We are very happy with the work they performed. Thanks

"A bid was requested in September, 2011, furnished, and found reasonable and acceptable. Work commenced in mid-September.

Wood floors were protected by taping heaving paper from baseboard-to-baseboard before work commenced. Steam radiators were removed from wall brackets to permit wall repair and painting behind the radiators. The owner and crew were polite, cleaned up at the end of each day.

Work was carried out without interruptions. The finished job was acceptable and the apartment will be easier to touch up and maintain the the future.

Mr. Jones was always friendly and available to discuss details of the work, answer questions, and make suggestions. He was entrusted with an exterior key to the building, which he handled properly."

"Excellent!!! Christopher Rubio was very responsive and kept me abreast of time of arrival throughout the day. He had a project in the morning and was coming to perform work for my mom later in the day. I was coming from an hour away so trying to coordinate time. He was very punctual and ended up waiting for me to arrive since I was delayed in traffic. Install went very well. We ran into a snag with one of the shower bars because the second stud could not be clearly identified, so Christopher immediately located a hardware store nearby and purchased tile anchors to secure bar into wall. He wanted to ensure that the bars installed were safe for my mom as if he were installing them for his mom or grandmother. He left the area clean and performed the job well. He made an elderly woman (my mom) very happy and I have piece of mind that my mom is safe having grab bars in her shower area. Thanks Christopher! I highly recommend Christopher to anyone whom is seeking a handyman. (He does painting, plumbing, electrical, TV Mounting, baby proofing and misc repairs as well)."

"Wonderful! We contracted with Rick in 2017 to repair and weatherproof several stucco walls. In 2018, we began a large job consisting of removing dry rot siding, repairing the areas with plywood. In the process we repaired a bay window that was leaking. Then we added 1 1/2” foam insulation over the old siding and topped that with new manufactured wood siding. Now our house is watertight, better insulated, and refreshed with a more modern look. We will continue to work with Rick and his crew in 2019 on a deck project. His guys are always professional. We have a dog and the guys make sure the gates are closed so he doesn’t get out."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

You can plaster over regular drywall, but it's essential to prepare the surface properly. Before plastering, the drywall should be clean, free of dust, and any loose or peeling paint should be removed. Applying a primer specifically designed for plastering can improve adhesion. Some professionals recommend applying a base coat of plaster or joint compound to create a better surface for the plaster to adhere to. Proper preparation ensures a smooth and durable plaster finish over regular drywall.

Plaster can be a difficult DIY to master, especially if you plan to plaster an entire room, rather than patch a small area. Before you begin a plaster DIY project, you need to know which tools and type of plaster to use. It's also important to know how to prepare the surface and apply the plaster for a smooth finish. If that all sounds like a lot of work, you may prefer hiring a local plaster repair contractor to do the job.

Generally, your homeowner’s insurance might only cover ceiling collapses caused by problems under the coverage, such as a busted pipe. But if the ceiling collapse resulted from owner negligence, maintenance issues, or other reasons excluded by your policy, you could be on your own. Some policies might cover damages caused by the collapse but not the repair itself. Check with your policy carrier for the most accurate information regarding ceiling collapse coverage.

While you should consult with a ceiling professional for larger cracks, especially if you’re not sure what’s causing your ceiling to crack, you can certainly try to repair small cracks on your own. If you’re up for the task, here’s how to repair ceiling cracks for $150 or less.

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.
