"so sorry that customer was not happy. when we left she was happy enough to write check.she said the only problem she had was she picked the wrong color of metal.the porch roof mentioned is a slated roof, with no decking.porch roof only has 5 slated boards on the whole side.. dont know were all rotten wood is that is mentioned.customer was happy enough to ask me for a price on rebuilding deck when we left.customer did not contact me at all with this matter. if she had we would have responded immediately.the main reason i think the roof was replaced was because it didn't match the rest of house roof that we installed.which looks wonderful.this is the first i am to hear of this matter, and once again i am sorry for customer not being happy.i can't fix problem if i don't know there is a problem.we take pride in all our jobs and we like to have everybody 100%satisfied ,we strive to do the best job possible.we only install roofs that the customer picks out.we can't be responsible for customer not being happy with metal roof on porch that she picked out .the new roof that she had put on by the other roofers is a shingle roof to match the rest of house , which should of been done in beginning.we only install what customer wants.shingle roofs are cheaper than metal , is why other roofer could do for less.once again sorry for customers dissatissfication.one call could have fixed it all.."
1.Never got a complete tear-off
2. All vent pipes were not replaced
3. flashings were sub-standard at both chimneys. Front flashing did not even go around complete chimney was a 4 inch gap, this explained water in basement at base of that chimney, and mortar in fireplace coming loose.
4. ridge-vent not to code
5. low-slope roof on dormer shingles were to be done with short exposure were not to contract and water backing up under them.
6. A cut through a shingle near the rear chimney was also causing a leak in the kitchen with snow pack on roof.
7. Also found lots of loose nails left on roof, they left a large overhang over the gutter, this turns out to be to cover-up the fact they did not do the complete tear off.
Hired another roofer to fix it RIGHT, cost me another $2500.00
replaced all flashings, pipe vents, and redo of roofing of two dormers, replace shingles that had cut., had excess roofing trimmed from gutter areas.
Still have not repaired ceiling in kitchen which has damage in two areas from flashing issues. Also damage in bathroom ceiling from vent pipe leak.
"to whom it may concern;i am sorry for customers problems with her roof, but i feel they are not my fault.first of all i gave customer a 1 year warranty for workmanship.roof gave no problem for first two years.customer had a handyman doing repairs on gutter and same chimney in question.she had her handyman try to install a chimney cap, and could not do job.customer called us. we went up and found a hand full of screws laying by chimney.she did not know how they got their.that's when her neighbor came out and said that she had a handyman up there.that's when we found holes in flashing.that's when i told customer that we can not keep fixing problems that someone else is causing.i explained to customer that her chimney needed counter flashing and everything comes with a price, counter flashing is extra.she said flashing and no counter flashing.then when her handyman tried to repair chimney cap ,he broke seal on flashing.the customer is still using roof now.there was nothing wrong with roof, just needed counter flashing that she refused to pay for.everything was good until i told customer i couldn't warranty handyman's work.she told me at this time that she would sue me. which she did. the buncombe county courts found that she had no reason for suit.all work was performed to contract. it is all on public record if anyone wishing to look at. i own a highly respected roofing company. honesty is at the top of my list.the roofing shingles that i installed all 2500 sq. ft. are still on roof working just fine..Ive been in business for over 30 years. and that was the first time in court for suit.pretty good record if you ask me.roof was done by contract and by experts. roofing materials were chosen by customer.once again roof did not fail, flashing failed, needed counter flashing.which customer declined..."
