"Hired this business to do a complete overhaul on our backyard. We had them install a sprinkler system, sod, boarders, gravel, rock, a retaining wall, privacy tress, flowers, shrubby, level everything out, and even had them fix a gate and one side of our fence. They turned a hideous dirt backyard into a gorgeous paradise. The owner is a super hard worker and won't stop until the job is done. Highly recommend."

"The young guy who did the work was prompt and professional, but not well trained. He power washed my patio BEFORE blowing the leaves and sticks off my roof, so all the debris landed on my just cleaned patio, and he didn't follow up to clean it off.
He forgot to do the garage door and was all packed up when he asked me to inspect, so I just let it ride.

"Great service and honest people to work with! Charlie was able to give me a good estimate for repairing my concrete at my back yard. Although it was not a big project, Charlie agreed to do it and he sent to my house 2 guys that took out the old concrete and to do a new one with a nice design. The workers worked for 3 days in a row and they made sure to do their work without interfear us.  At the end they made sure to clean  and to ask our permission that everything is good.

"I'm very pleased with the quality of work and overall professionalism of the Davis Excavating . My project involved removing a lot of big cactuses and cleaning front yard. We highly recommend the Davis Excavating. The initial design and incorporated our ideas along with their own with the end result exceeding our expectations."

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

A 40-pound bag of topsoil covers 0.76 cubic feet, enough for 4.5 square feet with a 2-inch depth or 36 square feet with a .25-inch depth, such as topdressing a standard garden bed. If you want 2 inches of fresh topsoil for your 36-square-foot garden bed, you’ll need eight 40-pound bags.

Yes, you need to use landscape fabric under your rubber mulch. Rubber mulch doesn’t decompose, so putting landscape fabric down can work as a barrier between your mulch and soil, preventing your mulch from mixing with your soil and leaching chemicals like aluminum, cadmium, and copper into it. Also, since weeds can occasionally get through rubber mulch, using landscape fabric as a second form of protection can increase its effectiveness.

Yes, pea gravel is good for driveways as long as your driveway isn’t built on a hill or any type of slope where it can slide. It’ll settle on a flat surface and create a suitable driveway over time, though some spreading initially will take place. If you're wondering how to make a gravel driveway in a high-rainfall area, using pea gravel could help you to cut down on costs needed for extra drainage solutions.

Yes, grounds count when calculating box fill. A single volume allowance is made when up to four equipment grounding conductors or equipment bonding jumpers enter the box. It’s important to account for all wires and fittings when calculating box fill. Beyond the first four, each additional grounding conductor should be counted as ¼ volume.

If you hire a professional landscaper, you could expect to pay between $90 and $660 to install three cubic yards of river rock. (That’s based on the average river rock installation cost of $30 to $220 per cubic yard.) However, the exact price depends on the kind of river rock you choose. Crushed limestone and riprap are some of the more affordable options, while boulders and Arizona river rock are pricier.
