"Shilpa did an amazing job designing an addition to a home we bought. It included remodeling an extra framed garage into a master bedroom suite, laundry room and powder room plus adding to its size . The project also included doubling a great room to blend into the house with the new suite as well as opening up the kitchen to this great room and raising the ceiling . The design blends really well and will provide a nice open plan for living and entertaining I was impressed with how well Shilpa understood what we wanted and executed the plans in the time frame promised if not earlier. She also pushed it thru the planning dept. with minimal need for changes. The project is on going and is moving along well Shilpa is always available to answer questions as things progress. The contractor feels she is easy to work with as well. I really enjoyed working with Shilpa and easy her demeanor ."

"We had the pleasure of working with Creation 7 and Yaniv, our project manager. Our project was a large-scale remodel of a 4000+ sf house, that transformed an uninspired, outdated, and dark interior to a modern, light-filled interior. As an architect-owner with much design time and emotion, as well as money invested in the project, I probably rank pretty high on the fastidious scale of clients. Yaniv was conscientious about following up with any concerns I had on work in progress. We worked through the challenging pieces of my project with tight dimensional tolerances and unusual details including large scale pivot doors, blind doors, skylight wells with complex geometries, flush invisible baseboards, stepped reveal between wall and stairs, and others. This care was taken while sticking to the construction schedule, and allowing us to move in on-schedule (which also allowed us to move out of our previous house and to sell it). We thoroughly enjoy our new house. Thank you to Yaniv and the entire Creation 7 team!"

Architects questions, answered by experts

While the Arts and Crafts movement inspired many architectural elements, the primary styles from the time include Craftsman, Tudor Revivals, bungalows, and Mission homes. You'll see elements of these styles in homes, churches, museums, and schools—particularly Country Day schools from the era.

Utilize CAD software for precision, modern design visualization, and alterations.

The essential difference between an architect and an engineer is that architects typically focus more on the aesthetic design of buildings, although not without consideration for the structural integrity of the building. Engineers focus more on the structural, technical, and practical aspects of whether and how an architectural design can be built as drawn. You may need to hire both types of professionals if you’re designing and building a new home.

Consulting the architect of your house is not the best way to determine when it was built. Many homes are built by developers or builders, so there may not be a specific architect to track down—especially if you have a very old house. Instead, it’s best to rely on local government records.

Drawing your own floor plans is acceptable for many kinds of projects, including interior design and room layout. You can use floor plan software to create the plans but keep in mind that the floor plan will only be as accurate as the measurements you take and enter into the software.
