"Chris, Vanessa, and team showed up the same day I called. They were thorough, hard working, and very courteous. Beat cost of other pest control companies for removal of rats, clean up, and sealing off holes under the house. Thanks for your help!"

"Matt Muth performed the inspection and was punctual, professional and personable. He performed the inspection and it was determined the best option for us would be tenting, something we had hoped to avoid but Matt was honest and straightforward in his evaluation. That said, once we have resolved our immediate problem I would not hesitate to hire Pacific Coast Termite to perform a maintenance program so we don't get into the situation again."

Animal Removal questions, answered by experts

Identifying the specific animal running on your roof at night can be challenging without direct observation. Common nocturnal roof visitors include raccoons, squirrels, opossums, and rats. Raccoons are bigger and can create heavy thumping sounds. Squirrels are agile and may produce rapid scurrying noises. Opossums tend to move stealthily with less noise. Rats can make scratching or gnawing sounds. To determine the culprit, look for signs like footprints, droppings, or damaged areas near the roof. For accurate identification, consult a pest control professional or set up wildlife cameras near potential entry points.

Small animals, particularly rats and mice, like to burrow inside pool heaters. To keep them out, seal any entry points with caulk or steel wool. Then, place mothballs inside or around your pool heater. As a final measure of protection, you can cover the pool heater in hardware cloth or wood paneling to further block entry points.

American badgers sleep in the burrows they dig, which can be extensive, featuring multiple chambers and tunnels. Badgers prefer to excavate their dens in open grasslands, prairies, and fields where the soil is easy to dig. They are solitary animals and usually have several burrows within their territory to use as needed. These underground homes provide them with a safe and secure place to rest during the day and to raise their young.

Iguanas cause a variety of damage to properties and pose other dangers. Their tunnels can collapse seawalls and foundations. They destroy native plants, trees, gardens, and agriculture. They compete with native animals for food. Their droppings, left almost anywhere, can transmit salmonella which is especially dangerous to vulnerable groups like children and the elderly.

It’s debatable, but most will say either termites or bed bugs are the hardest to remove. When dealing with termites, you must find the central nest (as opposed to satellite nests) and exterminate the queen and all potential queens, which often takes the work of a specialist. Bed bugs, meanwhile, are incredibly hardy, good at hiding, and resistant to pesticides, so it takes very careful, very thorough work to get rid of them permanently.
