"Heath Stairworks did a great job on our stairway. They added a beautiful hand rail and iron spindles. They listened to what we had in mind, made suggestions, and it turned out exactly how we wanted it. I would definitely use them again."

"John did an amazing job. He came in the day we called him to measure and recommend crown molding for our old home. A day and a half later, our house was transformed and looked 10 years younger! He also went above and beyond to cover challenging corners and built in book shelves. If you need crown molding help, Crowning Touch is the best in Sacramento!"

Small jobs welcome

"I was lucky to have my job scheduled in between rainy and dry periods and got the job scheduled before the summer season got going. Steven, the estimator & project manager, communicated extremely well and was very reliable. The woodwork was done quickly by highly skilled carpenters. There were several days of waiting the rain out, but that was unavoidable. Painting prep took several days because of the poor condition of the weathered surfaces. There were a lot of stucco cracks that had to be sanded down that I had put caulk over originally. There was additional work done after more dry rot was discovered on my garage roof. The price and little extras of the job was extremely fair."

"My wife and I are very happy with the quality of workmanship HomEx provided during our home remodel. Working with Ben and his crew was a pleasure and we would absolutely consider HomEx for any future projects or highly recommend them to others. They were on time, respectful, and had good ideas during the whole process which was much appreciated. Thank you HomEx for transforming our old outdated house to our beautiful forever home. "Russ was absolutely fantastic to work with. His craftsmanship is superb. And his professionalism stood out from day 1. We has several project delays due to other contractors, but Russ was always dependable and flexible. He even took time to talk directly with the flooring crew to make sure everything aligned perfectly with his work. As a woodworker myself, I know what ton look for when it comes to precision and detail. Russ's corners were tight, his finishing flawless, and his overall workmanship truly artistic. His eye for design and sense of style helped guide us towards what would actually work for our space, and the results exceeded all expectations. We now have our dream stair case! If you want someone who takes pride in their work, communicates well with other trades, and treats every project like a piece of art, Russ is the guy you want. I can't recommend him enough"

"Michael and team did such an amazing job on our bathroom remodel. They took our tiny, dysfunctional bathroom and turned it into a true master bathroom oasis in a short amount of time during the holiday season. When they had the space down to the studs, Michael sat down with us and discussed in detail the best possible use of the space and we couldn’t be happier with our final decision after going through the options. Michael was great at communicating and we still stay in touch to this day, which we truly appreciate. Great team who does great work and I will absolutely be giving Waters Construction a call for any and all future home renovations. I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Yes, carpenters can fix squeaky floors. They have the expertise to identify the source of the squeak, whether it’s loose floorboards, subfloor issues, or joist problems. These experts also have the right tools and hands-on knowledge to secure the flooring and eliminate the noise, ensuring a long-lasting solution.

If you don’t have a coping saw, you can use an angle grinder to cope crown molding, but it takes a little more precision. Place your molding down on your workbench, angle the grinder at a 45-degree angle toward the molding, and back cut the wood. You’ll need to carefully angle your grinder to accommodate the curves in the wood, and aim to remove around 1 inch from the profile of the molding.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface materials can be cut with standard woodworking tools, such as a circular saw or a jigsaw. However, it is crucial to use the correct type of blade to avoid damaging the material.

For a circular saw, a tungsten carbide-tipped blade is required; a triple chip grind blade is highly recommended. For a jigsaw, you should use a fine-tooth down-cutting blade. Do not use blades designed for cutting wood, as they can cause microfractures that weaken the edges of the countertop. A diamond blade is also unnecessary, as those are designed for harder materials like natural stone, which Corian is not.

After cutting, the edge will be rough. It is essential to sand and smooth the cut edge to prevent microfractures, which can eventually compromise the integrity of the countertop.

Yes, many repair services include blade sharpening as part of the maintenance package.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface countertops can be cut with standard woodworking tools like a circular saw or a jigsaw, but using the correct blade is crucial for the best results.

The recommended blade is a tungsten carbide-tipped blade, often called a solid-surface planer or triple chip grind blade. This type of blade is hard enough to cut through the material effectively. For a jigsaw, a fine-tooth down-cutting blade should be used.

It is important to note that a diamond blade is not necessary. Diamond blades are designed for harder materials like natural stone, concrete, or brick, and Corian is not a natural stone.

Using blades designed for wood is not recommended as they can cause microfractures that weaken the countertop's edges. While a tungsten carbide blade provides a much cleaner cut, the resulting edge will still be rough and must be sanded and smoothed to prevent microfractures from developing over time.
