"I am THRILLED with my experience with Health Stairworks, Inc. They were immediately responsive to my initial call about our stair railing project, took the time to answer all my questions and had a competitive price. They were able to get my project on their schedule earlier than expected, and the contractor we had (Russ) was simply outstanding. He was so professional, kind, curtious and FAST. He is a master as his craft and it shows. He did everything to perfection, literally. The original timeline was 3-4 days and he was done in less than a day and a half. We are simply blown away at how outstanding our entire experience with Health Stairworks, Inc. has been. The customer service, responsiveness, professionalism, quality of work and price are TOP NOTCH. They are the real deal, book them TODAY!"

"John did an amazing job. He came in the day we called him to measure and recommend crown molding for our old home. A day and a half later, our house was transformed and looked 10 years younger! He also went above and beyond to cover challenging corners and built in book shelves. If you need crown molding help, Crowning Touch is the best in Sacramento!"

Customers say: Quick response

"Russ was absolutely fantastic to work with. His craftsmanship is superb. And his professionalism stood out from day 1. We has several project delays due to other contractors, but Russ was always dependable and flexible. He even took time to talk directly with the flooring crew to make sure everything aligned perfectly with his work. As a woodworker myself, I know what ton look for when it comes to precision and detail. Russ's corners were tight, his finishing flawless, and his overall workmanship truly artistic. His eye for design and sense of style helped guide us towards what would actually work for our space, and the results exceeded all expectations. We now have our dream stair case! If you want someone who takes pride in their work, communicates well with other trades, and treats every project like a piece of art, Russ is the guy you want. I can't recommend him enough"

"We hired DCCF to replace our front deck with Trex decking. We had a wood deck and painted railings that were getting dry rot. The new Trex decking and black metal railings really updated the look of our house. Their price was fair and they did a great job. We are very pleased with the quality of their work and the materials they used."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Some states require carpenters to be licensed to perform forms of carpentry, such as framing. The license requires a certain amount of experience and to pass an examination. In states that don’t require carpenters to be licensed, they must be licensed as a contractor if they work independently rather than solely as a subcontractor under a licensed builder. Use Angi’s contractor licensing tool to find out whether a potential carpenter is licensed in your state.

Yes, carpenters can fix squeaky floors. They have the expertise to identify the source of the squeak, whether it’s loose floorboards, subfloor issues, or joist problems. These experts also have the right tools and hands-on knowledge to secure the flooring and eliminate the noise, ensuring a long-lasting solution.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface countertops can be cut with standard woodworking tools like a circular saw or a jigsaw, but using the correct blade is crucial for the best results.

The recommended blade is a tungsten carbide-tipped blade, often called a solid-surface planer or triple chip grind blade. This type of blade is hard enough to cut through the material effectively. For a jigsaw, a fine-tooth down-cutting blade should be used.

It is important to note that a diamond blade is not necessary. Diamond blades are designed for harder materials like natural stone, concrete, or brick, and Corian is not a natural stone.

Using blades designed for wood is not recommended as they can cause microfractures that weaken the countertop's edges. While a tungsten carbide blade provides a much cleaner cut, the resulting edge will still be rough and must be sanded and smoothed to prevent microfractures from developing over time.

Learning how to frame a house includes picking the right lumber for the job. Most people will want to pick pine, spruce, or fir for the framing. These types of lumber are affordable and produce sturdy framing for structures. Look for kiln-dried lumber to reduce the risk of shrinkage or insect damage after installation. As part of what’s included in framing a house when you hire a professional, the contractor should order the lumber, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right lumber.

Spindles on a deck may also be called balusters or pickets. While not as important to the structural support of the deck as the rail posts, they play a critical role in ensuring the deck is safe to use by closing in large gaps in the railing. For this reason, balusters must be no more than 4 inches away from one another.
