"Oscar arrived on time. Nice and early in the morning and he was able to remove the old fan and replaced it with a new one. He cleaned up afterwards. I will hire him and Garafano electric again in the future."

Small jobs welcome

"Work and was done well and in timely fashion. Techs were friendly and when they discovered they did not have to replace brace for ceiling fan (my house is old, but has had constant work done over the years) they did not try to ?sell? me on a new one. Would not hesitate to recommend!"

"What a wonderful experience! Jacob Dascalo was fantastic. He replied quickly and reliably at all times and was available for all my questions. He was extremely punctual and asked all the right questions (even asked for pictures) in advance to ensure that he had all the correct material and supplies with him for the repair job. He was patient and polite and explained very well. He was also very transparent about his charges. He completed the work quickly and even helped me organize the purchase of my fans. It was a nice treat that he even cleaned up everything when he was done ... did not even notice that someone had been there. Customer Service at its best ..."

"Jeremy was on time and did a fantastic job in uninstalling 5 fans and surround sound speakers. They even packaged the fans and put it all in an orderly fashion with all the parts. He was very helpful in giving some ideas on a few other projects that I have pending. I will definitely bring him and his company for future projects. Very professional and did an extremely good job! Highly recommend."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

For a 12x12 room, a fan between 36" and 50" will work, as it falls in the range for spaces up to 144 square feet. These size fans provide adequate air circulation and ensure a comfortable environment without being overpowering. Even better, they come in a broad range of styles, offering aesthetics and functionality, making them suitable choices for maintaining an ideal room temperature and enhancing overall comfort.

If you’re removing a ceiling fan without visible screws, start by locating the fan canopy—a round cover placed above the fan blades and motor. There should be a thin ring that can be turned counterclockwise to remove the canopy and reveal the screws. After unscrewing the fan, you can disconnect the wires and remove the entire fan from the mounting hardware. For safety, make sure the fan switch is turned off before you remove the canopy. It may be easier to remove the fan blades first, too.

Stainless steel or aluminum fans are long-lasting and have less air resistance. They are best for outdoor use as their durability helps them withstand unpleasant weather conditions. Their heavy weight requires a stronger motor, which leads to more noise than other blade materials.

Wooden fan blades are a classic, durable option. They are much quieter than metal fans and feature a wide range of styles and finishes to choose from. However, they can be damaged by moisture if not covered with plastic.

Plastic fan blades are lightweight, easy to clean, and versatile. There are various shapes and styles to choose from as plastic is easily molded and dyed. They will also deteriorate slower than other materials as they aren’t as susceptible to humidity and moisture.

If the fan doesn’t have a switch, connect the white wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the fan; connect the green wire to the ground wire; connect both black wires; and connect both blue wires. If yours has a switch, the white and green wires are connected the same way. However, connect the ceiling’s red wire to the light’s black wire and the ceiling’s black wire to the fan’s black wire.

There are many types of ceiling fans available, each designed for different spaces and needs. Standard ceiling fans are the most common type and work well in most rooms. Low-profile ceiling fans are better suited for rooms with low ceilings. Smart ceiling fans can be controlled with a smartphone or voice commands. For larger spaces with ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, large ceiling fans are ideal. Dual-motor fans have two motors to produce more airflow in multiple directions. You can also find energy-efficient or Energy-Star models that can be up to 60% more efficient, as well as fans with built-in lights or retractable blades.
