"Quick response to replace a tankless water heater that went completely out and had to be replaced. The employees of Lees Plumbing were very professional. The only downside was the cost for replacement which ended up costing 5400.00"

"I received a very quick response to my inquiry on a Saturday evening. We spoke by phone and he had his crew at the house to change out our water heater at 7:00 AM on Monday. They completed the job quickly and professionally. Would recommend this contractor."

"We could not be happier with our off grid solar system Mike designed and installed with his highly professional crew. Customer service was outstanding, the job was done in a timely matter and Mike contacted us several times since to make sure all was good. We have not had to use our generator to boost batteries since job was completed even though we have had many rainy days and even a couple of snow day's. The system far exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend Mike and his crew. We were so pleased that we are actually going to hire him for a construction job on another property."

"I had a leaking water heater that needed replacing. Jay's estimate for the job was the most reasonable by a significant amount. He was able to come out the next day and did a quick, neat job. The next time I need a plumber, I will call Jay Green!"

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

Unless they are connected to the same system, boilers and water heaters will both need their own expansion tanks. The only case they wouldn’t have separate expansion tanks is if the boiler is pulling double duty and managing a heating system while also supplying hot water for a home. In which case, you may not need a hot water heater.

Yes, most municipalities have codes that require water heaters to have pans. A pan is necessary when a water heater or hot water storage tank is installed in an area where water leakage could cause damage, such as an attic, second floor, or finished basement. Tankless water heaters are not required to have a pan since there is no storage tank.

When replacing an old unit, you might want to switch from a gas water heater to an electric water heater or vice versa. To do this, you will likely need to add infrastructure to the area. For example, you likely don’t have a gas line that served your old electric water heater. You’d have to call a plumber to put in a new gas line. If you’re replacing a gas unit with an electric one, the plumber will need to safely cap the old gas line. You will then need an electrician to add wiring for the new electric unit.

Several things can void the warranty for your water heater. Many water heater manufacturers state that installing your own will void the warranty. However, even if you get away with performing the task yourself, incorrect installation, lack of a building permit, and improper repair work, regardless of licensing status, can all render your water heater unprotected by both the manufacturer's warranty and any installation warranties.

Basements, specifically those without any air conditioning, are the best location for a hybrid water heater. These rooms are less likely to experience extreme temperature fluctuations, which can affect your hybrid water heater’s efficiency and performance. Basements often have more than enough space for their tanks and proper air circulation. Hybrid water heaters can also be a bit noisy, but putting them in your basement will keep the noise away from your main living areas.
