"I hired Jaime and his team at New View Roofing to repair a leak in my tile roof. They quickly identified and fixed the issue and performed value maintenance on the roof valleys, his team re-roofed my patio and installed rain gutters. The customer service, craftmanship and professionalism is top notch. I recommend New View Roofing to anyone who is looking for exceptional quality at a reasonable price."

"Was just going to ask for a quote. Within a week from that date, we had a new roof! Very happy with the work and will last us for as long as we live here. Will make it easier to sell when we move on. Wonderful experience with Matthew B. and Michael M."

"Andrew came and was nervous at first to get up on the steep roof at first. He how ever didn't give up and was up and down the roof multiple times replacing screws approx 250. He also removed a few branches on a tree that were touching the roof. He spent most of the morning working for us. I will recommend them and would and expect to hire them again."

"The roof came out looking beautiful and we had a good rain two days later with no problems, so I'm gonna say it was done right! There were a couple of problems in the process that Salvador quickly resolved. This is a hard working crew, with a level headed boss who is fair and understanding. I hope I never need another roof, but if I do, I'll call Waterproof Roofing!"

"Very prompt response to my inquiry to get my roof gutter cleaned. Rafael arrived on time, did a great job - everything back in order when the job was finished. Rafael is very pleasant and professional; he showed me pictures of the gutters before & after. Price was very reasonable. I am having additional work done."

"Mike and Tony did an outstanding job cleaning my roof and installing gutter guards. They were very professional and knowledgeable. They did an inspection of my roof as well, taking video that they shared with me. As a bonus, they also fixed some stone siding that had fallen off the wall of my house. I liked their work so much I hired them for another job!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

A chimney cap costs about $300 on average to install, with prices ranging from $75 to $1,000. The final cost depends on several factors, including the professional you hire, the accessibility of your chimney, the cap's material and size, whether any repairs are needed, and if it requires custom fabrication. Chimney caps are usually made from galvanized steel, stainless steel, or copper. Copper caps are the most expensive, followed by stainless steel and then galvanized steel. Excluding labor, average material costs are around $100 for galvanized steel, $250 for stainless steel, and $600 for copper. You may also face additional costs, such as hiring a chimney sweep to clean the chimney before the cap is installed.

Whether replacing the entire roof or just installing roof shingle replacements in small areas, always pull up the old roof shingles. While you can technically put new roof shingles (but not other roof materials) over old shingles, this can add weight strain to the roof and prevent the new shingles from securing properly to the roof.

How long shingles last depends on the type of shingles you have on your roof. Asphalt shingles normally last anywhere from 15 to 30 years, metal shingles can last anywhere from 15 to 100 years, and tile shingles can last anywhere from 50 to 100 years or more.

A gable roof with steep pitches covered in asphalt shingles or wood shakes is the most popular roof for Cape Cod homes. Asphalt shingles started gaining popularity in the early 1900s, so wood shake roofs, which were popular in the 1700s when Cape Cod homes were first built, are the traditional option. You can further modernize your Cape Cod home by raising the roof in the front, back, or both to add living space and change up the traditional single-gable roof with doghouse dormers.

Condensation can occur on the inside of a roof, but it should always be temporary. It does not necessarily mean there is a roof leak. Condensation happens when the inside and outside of a house are at different temperatures. For instance, if it is hot during the day and then gets very cold at night, the inside of the house will be warmer than the outside and may cause condensation to form on the inside of the attic. This may not be cause for concern, but if it is happening frequently, it should be addressed; otherwise, it could cause roof leaks, compromise the structural integrity of the wood, or allow mold to grow.
