"I researched and talked to several contractors to do our extensive paver job. Method Paving was by far the best choice. Nathan from method paving was our project manager he helped us design our projects and had great solutions to what I thought would be issues for them to do. They did great work and we love the results.Great crew and outstanding customer service. If every contractor had business and work ethics like Method Pavers you'd never have stress again when you needed to hire one. They are honest and reliable, will always make it right! It was a pleasure working with Nathan and his crew."

"Robert and his team were professional and meticulous while working on our driveway project. They finished the work in a timely manner and now after almost 1 year I'm still as pleased with the result. "I contacted M&J Prime Builders on a Sunday morning via an urgent request on Angi (Angie's List) to repair a leak in our backyard irrigation system. Javier contacted us immediately and arrived at our home in Concord with his business partner, Marcos, within 90 minutes. They were very attentive, professional, and accommodating, especially for our unexpected Sunday morning emergency. They not only repaired the leak but also addressed another issue that had arisen with our shutoff valve. Their estimate was very reasonable and accurate, and their work is top-notch. Javier is both a licensed contractor and a civil engineer. As a result, they offer a wide range of home improvement projects. I will be using their services again and highly recommend M&J Prime Builders"

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

You can expect your asphalt pavement to last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, or 25 years on average. The life expectancy of your asphalt driveway depends on the climate, the amount of traffic, and how well you maintain it. While you can’t necessarily control some of these factors, you can control the amount of maintenance effort you put into your driveway.

To prevent your asphalt from deteriorating prematurely, you should follow a good maintenance routine involving regular cleaning, reparation work, and resealing.

After removing existing moss, consider using paver blocking sand to fill the joints. This specialty material hardens once placed and serves as an effective barrier against moss and weeds. From there on, regularly clean your pavers and try to keep them dry. You can also seal your paver as a semi-permanent solution — just make sure you reseal every 3 to 5 years.

Three inches is a great thickness for a residential asphalt driveway that sees minimal to moderate traffic from cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks. However, a thicker driveway can better withstand the weight of a heavier vehicle, such as a trailer or a recreational vehicle. If you drive a heavy vehicle on a thin driveway, you risk cracking and damaging it.

Professionals restore the surface to a fresh, attractive finish by applying a new, even sealant layer.

A driveway's lifespan varies by material. Asphalt driveways typically last 15 to 30 years, while concrete driveways last longer, between 20 and 50 years. The longevity of any driveway is affected by factors like extreme temperatures, heavy traffic, and the quality of maintenance. Regular upkeep, such as filling cracks, resealing the surface, and ensuring proper drainage, can help extend its life. For gravel driveways, regrading to fill in uneven areas every year or two is recommended.
