"Mold Remediation Project The team at Green Home Solutions starting with Emil & then Gabe was amazing. Emil responded right away & he got the job finished within a week's time. He was communicative, answered questions, provided reassurance & different options that fit within the budget & time constraints on a commercial shop. Drove from Pacific Grove to Capitola. He coordinated with me as the site manager while I was in TX and got the job done! Everyone involved was pleased at the efficiency, professionalism & communication. Five stars isn't enough for Green Home Solutions. Good job guys!!"

"I went on to Angie's List looking for mold remediation. I found this company and they came out and tested for mold. I worked with JC, she used some machines and tested the spore levels for mold. It was very high because there was no ventilation in the bathroom. She recommended some mold remediation. I had another company do some cleaning. They used air scrubbers, but that didn't work. I had them come back out two more times. They do a very thorough job of explaining the work, and they do get back to you. This has been a good experience. I just got the all clean/ all clear and my tenants can move back in."

"I hired Kamil and Denis to remove mold from water damage to my rental property. From the first touch, they were quick to respond and communicated every step of the way. Mold can be very scary and very confusing to a homeowner. So I was impressed when I had questions, they stopped and explained in detail until I understood everything. They arrived when they said they would and the completed the project on or before they said they would. The technician even went so far as to point out other areas of the home that needed some attention that could eventually cause damage (caulking windows, etc_. I was very impressed and would hire this company again and definitely refer them to any friends or colleagues who needed this service."

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

A mold inspection costs an average of $660, with a typical range between $300 and $1,025. However, costs can be as low as $150 or as high as $2,800 depending on several factors. These include the size of your home, the type of mold, the extent and accessibility of the affected area, your location, and the number and type of samples required. Hard-to-reach areas like air ducts, crawl spaces, and wall cavities can increase the cost. Specific tests have different prices; for example, swab testing typically costs $200 to $300 per area, while more extensive air testing can range from $250 to $700. A thorough inspection is crucial for determining the scope of the problem and identifying the best remediation method.

According to the EPA, mold grows within 24 to 48 hours if left untreated after a water leak. So unless you notice the leak and stop it right away, you only have a day or so before mold is a real concern. If you don’t notice the leak, it can take about three weeks for the mold spores to become visible. That means you’ve likely had an active mold infection for a few weeks by the time you notice discoloration.

It is safe to remove old linoleum, but it may require the help of a specialist due to the risk of asbestos in the material. Before you cut into linoleum or try to peel it up, have it tested for asbestos. If it tests positive, professionals will need to remove it to prevent the risk of health issues from airborne toxic particles. If it’s asbestos-free, DIY removal is possible and safe.

The high humidity of steam showers creates the ideal environment for mold growth, so it’s important to stay proactive against it. Along with regular cleaning, run your bathroom fan during and after your steam shower. Keep your shower door open and any doors and windows in the bathroom to allow the space to air out properly. If you come across ugly mold spores, spray them with undiluted vinegar, let it sit for at least an hour, and then scrub away the mold.

Wood tables are susceptible to mold growth, especially if they have been water-damaged. In fact, anything made of wood in your home—from tables and chairs to cabinets and floors—can grow mold since wood is both an organic material and a porous one. Major flooding and water damage are likely candidates for mold growing on your wood table, but it can also happen simply if the wood table is in a humid environment.

You can kill the mold with a proprietary cleaner, or simply a diluted bleach or even cleaning vinegar or dish soap. Always wear gloves, protective eyewear, and a face mask when dealing with mold.
