"Andrew Brown from Alarm Protection Group facilitated the installation of our home security system. He was a very helpful and informative, and was not pushy, as with other ADT sales reps. He followed up with us after the system was installed to see if we had any questions or concerns re the system. I highly recommend Andrew to anyone who is interested in a home security system."

"They had done such an amazing job. I asked for them to install a security camera system at three of my liquor stores. Super friendly, I had gotten such an amazing price, and the work done was extremely well and done fast."

"From day one Tony, the main contractor, was on time, understood what I was looking to accomplish, and was willing to deal with the logistical issues to be faced when working on a condo. I had other contractors estimate up to one month of demo and clean up, TME got the demo done in four days flat. TME took excellent care of our building, shared spaces, and was extremely respective of my new neighbors. When Tony tells you something will be done on a certain day, its done, no run around, just quality work done. Bottom Line, I will be working with TME again at some point in the future, they offer quality, responsive, fast work and the best price. Most people usually finish their projects at odds with their contractor, this is the exact opposite of that with TME. I am happy with my new home and have TME to thank."

Home Security Systems questions, answered by experts

The best type of deadbolt depends on your specific needs. If accessibility is your primary concern, a single-cylinder deadbolt is the easiest to operate. Mortise locks are likely the most secure type of deadbolt you can install, but single-cylinders combined with secondary locking mechanisms like vertical locks are also a great option. Smart locks will give you the most flexibility to open and close your locks whenever and wherever you need to.

You should be able to use your smart doorbell and access your video feed without a subscription. Subscriptions give you special features, such as night vision, downloading, and automatically saving footage for a set amount of days. It’s a good idea to compare plans among different providers before you commit.

Leaving a light on at night probably does not deter burglars as much as we would like. While there isn’t much evidence supporting the theory that lights deter burglars, there’s not anything disproving it either. If you feel like it offers added security because a burglar thinks you’re at home, then you can set your lights to a timer so they go off and on at intervals, mimicking someone moving around inside the house at night. A better idea is to install motion sensor lights in your yard.

If you want to make more home security upgrades to your perimeter, consider installing a smart automatic gate opener and a security camera. These will allow you to see who’s at the gate and open it for them (or not). You can learn how to install an automatic gate opener yourself or hire a professional for a little extra.

While many security cameras rely on an internet connection to transmit footage and store it in the cloud, not all of them stop working when the Wi-Fi is off. Some models are designed to function offline by using local storage options, such as a microSD card or a network-attached storage (NAS) device. These cameras can continue to record footage even without an internet connection. You can then access the stored data once the Wi-Fi is restored.
