"A very professional, talented, skilled team! They were always open to conversation, very flexible, and accommodating. Some other companies in the area didn’t even want to talk to us yet gave us a super high bid without any breakdowns. Roman listened to our concerns and made the whole process of transforming and renovating our place a pleasant and exciting experience. We are very happy with our new bathroom and definitely would recommend Solid Construction & Design."

"We are extremely happy with the work done by McQueen Construction and would not hesitate to call them back for any future work. We started with one bathroom remodel and were so happy we had them do the other one as well and some work in our kitchen. The quality and attention to detail is wonderful. Scott and his team are easy to work with and value the customer the good, old-fashioned, way. Consistency with honesty and follow-through were always present. Happy that he came so highly recommended and we can certainly see why. I would encourage everyone to call him for their projects. He will not disappoint; he is first class."

"Arthur and his team are amazing. We did a complete bathroom remodel and the end result is better than we ever expected. After the demo a hidden plumbing issue was discovered that interfered with our ideas for the shower. Arthur brought one of his plumbers the very next day and they brainstormed ways to redo the plumbing so we could get exactly what we wanted. They successfully fixed the issue without any delay. Arthur is an honest man and takes pride in his work. He combines high quality with fair value and most importantly makes sure you get exactly what you want without any short cuts. The name speaks for itself, he truly is the “Best of Remodel."

"We decided to have our master bathroom remodeled to make it safer after a slip and fall injury occurred while stepping out of our large tub/shower combo. We interviewed several companies and chose America’s Dream Homeworks because we were impressed with what our salesman, Neil, had to offer and the recommendations he made. We enjoyed our visit to the show room, and we were also very pleased with the quality of the products they use. The company was flexible in rescheduling our start date to accommodate my trip to Canada. We have nothing but the highest praise for Viktor Tyukayev who did most of the work himself: demolition down to the subfloor and studs, dry rot repair, installation of sheet rock, tape, texture and paint. He removed our outdated fluorescent ceiling light box and soffit and replaced them with LED recessed can lights. Viktor oversaw and coordinated the work of the countertop, shower surround, and glass door installation teams. He is tireless, meticulous, very hardworking, and detail oriented. Viktor kept the worksite very clean and he communicated very well with the city inspector. We also had very positive interactions with Julie Tumanova. She helped us with our products and she was always so responsive and gracious. She is very much suited to her position. Our master bathroom is absolutely beautiful and safe. America’s Dream Homeworks very much exceeded our expectations in every way!"

"Peter Newman Design & Construction has done several home renovation projects for us over a span of 20 years. The first was a room and bathroom addition way back in 1999. This job required framing, roofing, siding, plumbing, electrical, drywall, cabinetry, tile, hardwood flooring etc. He handled everything including coordination with the architect and the county for permitting, project scheduling, material procurement/delivery and all labor. In the last 5 years, Peter has accomplished a kitchen remodel and laundry room upgrade, and most recently, a master bath remodel. We will continue to use Peter for projects into the future as his work is always top notch. He is a true craftsman and artisan with great attention to detail. He is conscientious, professional, responsive, and always leaves the job site clean and orderly. He is always our first call!"

Tub Shower Conversion questions, answered by experts

It is possible to install a two-in-one unit that has both a shower and a walk-in tub so you can still have both in smaller bathrooms or provide a showerhead for those in the household who prefer taking showers. You’ll hear these referred to as walk-in tub and shower combo units. Keep in mind that these combo units can take up more space than a standard shower or tub, and you’ll most likely need to hire a pro to install one.

Yes, it would be best if you waterproofed your shower walls before tiling. The cement backing board behind the tile is not waterproof; it’s only water-resistant. On top of your tile backing board, be sure to use a waterproof shower membrane before you start installing your shower tiles.

In most cases, you can remove your showerhead without turning off your main water supply. You just need to make sure your shower isn’t on before you screw off the showerhead. That said, you may experience a small trickle of leftover water in the pipe.

If you have an older showerhead, it may be a good idea to turn off the main water supply because this job can put pressure on the pipes. If you have a shower shut-off valve, it will be hidden somewhere in a nearby access panel.

The waterproof membrane between the tiles and the wall backing in your shower area prevents water from seeping into your home's foundational structures and supports. Do not skip adding a waterproof membrane beneath the tiling in your bathroom.

The amount of space needed depends on the size of the shower. For the standard 32-by-32-inch walk-in shower, you’ll need about 50 square inches. The International Residential Code requires a minimum of 24 inches of space in front of a walk-in shower’s entrance. That said, the National Kitchen & Bath Association recommends 30 inches of clearance, which is a bit more comfortable for most people.

Ideally, you’ll have enough room to open your doors and cabinets without interfering with your shower. This may not be possible in a smaller bathroom.
